Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run. Kryton Groove

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run. Kryton Groov

That pd system is really sweet, I was thinking an adjustable power laser host would be cool, but that's an extra notch above that.

I've never in my life seen a "metal clicky" What are you guys talkin bout?

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run. Kryton Groov

and also, will the non-custom barrels be adonised more quickly than the marble and fade ones were?

Oh hell yeah! Instead of doing them one at a time, they just do them as a batch in one tank. Means all of them done at the same time instead of one at a time. We really havn't got that many left until we are at that point.

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run. Kryton Groov

cool - so are you expecting to have them all in your hands in a couple of weeks?

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run. Kryton Groov

Ya know I've no clue. I figured it was going to take 3 weeks no more to anodize the barrels. We are now at around 6 weeks. So the last thing I want to do is throw out a time frame and have it yet again exceeded.

I have to yet again apologize to all those still waiting for barrels. It seems that there is nothing more than 1 delay after another. This one at least is winding down to a conclusion slowly.

Nah, I was looking at the PDF  and instructions here:
http://hacylon.case.edu/laser/lavadrive1/

I suspected that the out side was the one with C1 and the diode, and the in was near the regulator and pot, but it just didn't work. I may order another one. I need to re-budget some things before I do. I'll probably get an 803t with it, but I really don't want anything too dangerous. I was really asking how LOW I can set it...
I will probably set it as low as it will go and still be lasing.

Are you referring to a picture that shows this???

As far as how much current you can send to the 803T that depends on how much power you want.  The 803T is capable of up to 200mw if you get a good one and REALLY push it.  I like to stick around 150mw or less.  Just don't like pushing the envelope that much.  If you are interested I can ship you an "assembled" Groove driver for $10 set to any current you want.  My recommendation would be to get a new diode and install it.  If your leary of doing so I'd be happy to insert the diode, solder it to the assembled driver and ship it back to you for a modest fee.

Big Red: Kryton Groove with long open can from LG 22x burner; driven by a DrLava FlexDrive at 400mA; 225mW out after a glass lens from Aixiz.

Canon A640...

When I took the dog out to p after posting that 1 pic, I thought about trying for a beamshot, because there was a slight haze in the air - but did you see the time I posted that? I needed sleep worse than you need a beamshot (I think). But I will try for one tonight!

Hey man, just to let you know I recieved my barrel the other day. Everything looks cool, colour was a bit lighter than i expected, but it looks nice. Can't wait to put it together...

I've been lurking the candlepower forums and discovered the difference between HA-II and HA-III anodizing. Just curious what type the anodizer is using for these barrels???

Well, I can tell you one thing about anodizing.  If you want HA-III you CANNOT have custom colors.  The process instead of being hot anodizing solution has to be chilled and takes A LOT longer.  Not to mention the whole process doesn't lend to customizing because of the time frame and the method that it is anodized.  So these are HA-II

The difference between the two, other than the method for anodizing, is the hardness and thickness of the anodized layer. HA-III is a LOT harder and tends to last a lot longer.

Re: Laser Barrels V2. GB. Second run. Kryton Groov

I was wondering, did you ever put out instructions on how it's all put together? I'll save the more annoying questions for when I get round to doing it, but it would be interesting to look over if you have.

Oh, also, what happened to the logo idea? Did it not go ahead?

Looks great though, a lot smaller than I had expected. Will deffinately do an 803T justice...
