Keeping a small dot over one mile distance

Interesting. Another experiment, strap a GoPro or something along those lines to a weather balloon, see if you can capture some of your very own footage of the earth's curvature, or maybe even earth's noncurvature. ;)

Teej, Well, it's a good job I'm not placing any bets then. If it's round it's round and if it's flat it's flat. The only people who care is the people who have vested interests. Anyway, you seriously don't think anyone will listen to a tin foil hat wearing freak like me do you?

I can't believe the amount of resistance. I wasn't expecting this in anyway.

Guy's this is a troll I would bet all my money on it. don't fall for it. Its now quite obvious.
I'm done here.

Well, it looks like I can't show my face round here any more then. I tried not to mention flat earth. Look at my original post. I don't really want to discuss it. It's several other users who are asking for evidence of flat earth and I'm saying 'NO' I don't want the debate. Now I wont be able to post on this forum again. If flat earth is such bad subject why not ban it? Before I go, thank you to everyone who provided me with invaluable information which I will be using. I won't be posting here again.

Eudaimonium, You sound like you really don't want me to do this experiment. I will post the results which ever way it goes. It doesn't really affect my life in any way. I'm easy with what ever comes of it. Do I sound like I'm biassed? What does it matter to anyone what the results are? If I prove the lake to be flat I will be ridiculed and dismissed as a lunatic so you shouldn't be afraid of whatever I find.

You are interpreting my genuine concern for your time and resources as "fear" of being proven wrong.

I'm not "afraid" of people proving sky isn't blue, or gravity doesn't exist... or Earth is freakin' flat.

Sometimes people aren't opposing you because they're afraid of you or because they hate you. Sometimes people are interested in others well being. But since you default to assuming everybody's an asshole with their own agendas, I'll leave you to your own devices.

I got better things to do, build and contribute to my life than arguing with a bunch of letters onscreen that Earth is round.

Literally.

i would like everyone involved to see this wonderfully round earth in this video

https://youtu.be/FHtvDA0W34I

A little known fact that I thought I'd bring to everyone's attention:

NASA, the Russian Space Agency, the European Space Agency, the Japanese Space Agency and any other Agency I may have forgotten,
has put in place laws that force "anyone traveling in the upper atmosphere to use a 360° fisheye lens when filming to make the earth look round".

Go figure {crude pun}.

I was glad to offer whatever help I could in this thread then I read the reason for the experiment and said to myself "uh oh here we go again".
I worry about these kinds of people I really do...

Bye, don't let the flat door hit your curved ass on the way out.
Most rediculous thread yet. All this shows is it doesn't matter how rediculous or outlandish the claim made, some will accept them.

It's always strange how the entire mass of known and verified facts and knowledge is met with such skepticism but the CT website, meme, or crack pots book, that makes insane claims gets met with zero skepticism.

Has anyone actually tried looking through the flatearthsociety.org website?
I tried... God knows I tried! I know someone that also believes in the FE theory. So I was curious of the "facts" on FE theory. There are absolutely no facts there. Entirely all opinion. And any organization that can disprove that the earth is flat, is part of the governments "agenda" in shielding the masses from the truth. Including NASA, anyone who's ever been on a shuttle mission, pilots, anyone involving any science in the field, etc. The believers in FE that aren't in with the conspiracy crowd believe FE strictly from religious beliefs. Matter of fact, most of the thread posts on the site is just people trolling.
If you are bored, and are looking for a chuckle, I highly recommend the site.:p

There is a fairly simple experiment that you can do that shows the curvature of the earth and lets you see the sun set twice in one day. You need to be on a west facing beach of a large body of water where the other side is beyond the horizon. Ocean, sea, or great lake, will all do. Then lay flat facing the sun with your eye level as close the the ground as possible. Wait for the sun to set and as soon as the last bit disappears jump to your feet while in the same spot and you'll see the sun set again. Or reverse everything and see the sun rise twice.

"with extraordinary [sic] few exceptions no educated person in the history of Western Civilization from the third century B.C. onward believed that the earth was flat" from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_of_the_flat_Earth

I recon for that to work you would have to be 276m tall, lol. Infact, if the earth is flat, going higher shouldn't work at all due to the laws of perspective. Someone must have tried this with a drone. If the earth is flat and you watched the sunset from high up and then dropped to earth after the sun had disappeared, in theory, the sun should reappear to a certain degree.

Wait ... what!!!! Oh man, I stopped on the first page and did not realize this was about flat earth.
Lets go logical on this, gravity is present here on earth so water flows to the lowest point. Since the surface of the earth is largely water, it would have found the edges billions of years ago and flowed right off. Unless the earth is like a pizza and has a crust/berm all the way around the edge. We would then be able to see that of course.

Also, with over 10 billion humans that have ever lived, the edge would have been seen by now and we would have pictures of it or in the old days, an X on a map somewhere.

Plus, if it were flat and we have sun rises and sunsets, that would mean that the earth is flipping like a piece of plywood which would create massive amounts of force near the far edges and none at the center.

Soooo, the earth is molten on the inside very basically put. Therefore gravity pulls towards the center making the item = round. Take a chunk of clay, some wet snow or dough and squeeze it uniformly towards the center. Ta-da = round.

Sorry but there are so many laws of science, coriolis effect to name just one, pictures and so on that a flat earth just is impossible. I am religious also but come on, it just does not come into play. No way, no how.
Just my 2 cents :p
