Well, after all the talk I've finally made a direct fit laser host.
It's missing the battery barrel, but that is in the shop!
It is made of aluminum, has a diameter of 1" and is only 5 inches long. It uses a single 18650, and has plenty of space for protected batteries. There is no tailclicky! I am making this host use a side pushbutton! I have plastic inserts that will hold a switchboard, and will even have some available with LED's if that floats your boat
It is fully focusable, both the aperture cap and module are threaded for a aixiz lens. The threads on the module are 3B tolerance, so they are very tight and hold the lens like glue. The top threads are slightly tapered to make sure the lens focuses like it should. Because of the high tolerances of these threads, and the nature of aluminum, I would advise that you use a glass lens with a metal lens nut. The plastic lens nut will eventually wear out from all of the focusing.
There is plenty of room in the "driver compartment" for almost any driver or any safety circuits you wish to use. I am planning an aperture cap with a shutter and a battery compartment with a key switch too for those safety nuts out there.
I am also planning extensions for the battery barrel to let you use 2 18650's in parallel or series. I also have 9mm and c-mount modules in the works, as well as a extended lens head that would fit a lot more corrective optics.
Expect bigger and smaller hosts and modules in the near future! I plan to have these for sale by the end of the week, so stay posted! I can make 500 of these in a day if the demand is high enough.
:thanks: for looking!
Edit: Probably should of cleaned it a little first, I was in too much of a hurry
