I bought this single AA rayovac flash light at wal-mart for five bucks it is a single led single mode flash light with twenty lummes of power. I have a twenty mw blue diode module that should be here monday I am wondering if this would be a good host for the 20 mw and change it over from a AA for a lithium Ion and what would that number be or would i have to get a extender and use two AA's or the Equivalent in Lithium Ions

search the forum for threads started by Pman. You can drop a 532nm module into it but for everything else it is garbage

Here you go vortish http://laserpointerforums.com/f38/rayovac-phr-803-xboost-78182.html at the time the x-boost mini was brand new heck even the copper module was considered radical.

Look at the output, for a phr very efficient. I would say there are better host sure, but as a builder I say go for it.

Came out nice and clean I still pick it up now and again it's all aluminium and solid NOT garbage. For the diode you mentioned I'm guessing a ps3 pull it will work fine... Good luck.

no it is a 405nm module from fasttech.com and its 20mw thought it would be good for a first build you can find it on fasttech. Pman uses them to they have decent prices and lots of reviews for projects. they have a small section of modules and a larger section of built lasers up to I think 300 mw but that what it is

I was thinking of using two to make a host and use two AAs if that is possible

You'll need to buy 3. The extra one for cutting a coupler from the threaded part. And you'd still only have room for 1 14500. The module and driver is going to take up a fair amount of room. Definitely won't fit in the head.

Just check out the link in post #3 use a boost driver read on how to set up a dummy load (search button) and pull up those big boy pants.
