Is the PHR dead ???

My phr came in the mail finally.
I soldered the 2 diode pins directly to the rkcstr v3 drive.
IT WAS TOUGH AS HELL....... (kinda new to soldering lol)

Before soldering, I used the resistance method to figure out current.
1.25 / resistance(between the 2 points) gave me about 90mA

So I hooked it up and it started emitting crazy blue/voilet light.
Honestly, it looks more blue than I thought it would.

So I decided to up the amps a bit.

Using the same formula, i set it to 115ma. Fired it up. It worked but then it stopped. I set the pot back to 90ma.

Tried it again, but now its very dim.....

Is it dead ???

Most likely yes. PHRs do not reliably handle current over 100mA. Some do for awhile, other die immediately. For best results, 90-100mA is ideal.
 
^^^ sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. Either way, it's always a bummer.
 
I guess I'll order a new phr sled.

How do i take out the dead diode from the aixiz module ??????????

If you do not have a diode extractor, you can simply "punch" it out with a small nail (just a bit smaller than the hole) and a hammer.

It's dead. No need to be careful with the diode. Just protect the module.

And your driver, desolder it from the diode before removal. I've always set my PHR's above 100ma, usually 12-125 ma. some just can't handle it and some can. If you start a diode at a certain ma it has been my experience it is best to leave it there. That color you saw at first it what the blue ray's beam looks like generally in person, some may be more blue or purple depending on how your eyes see it. Everyone sees it a little differently I gather.
 
and when you solder the new one on, make sure you dont have iron/diode contact for more than a couple seconds
