Is the END of portable lasers nigh?

If you are able to spring for just one, get the Dragon Lasers 589nm Spartan before they are gone. At 400 dollars you will need to confess to a priest after your thievery.....

....because its a steal :D

ehhhh..... can always get a RGB laser and mix a 500mW pseudo "golden" laser.
Can't really bring myself to spend $400USD for a 50mW baby lol

If you don't mind me asking, would there be any other trusted sellers of yellow lasers for reasonable prices now that Dragon lasers will stop selling them soon?

And where do I confess for stealing those 400 dollars? :D

I think I'll soon afford a yellow diode once they're out, 589nm prices have been pretty clear and solid for a good period of time. They're not going below "Wow, damn" threshold anytime soon.

Out of all the lasers I have ever owned or made or bought or what have you, my 589 is the only one I am holding onto. Just a thought. I like my 50+mW 589 more than any of my other lasers. Maybe because I know I can always build/buy more of the others but 589 won't always be there for easy pickup.

if Jmillerdoc hurries his GB up maybe more of us can have a slice of the 589 action before they're gone.

In my Sig. Click on Frost or Ivy. Those are both DPSS builds I did. You can still DIY and it is much more satisfying too. Without having to align anything. All you need is a good understanding of building lasers and then it is fairly easy to design an alternate setup for a large CNI module.

Makes me glad I have a CNI 532nm Module sitting near me though. Gonna have to gather the parts for that build sometime in the near future.

Is that the one from RHD that you beat me too? :na:

And yea, id be willing to bet CNI will still make the pgl-series modules anyway. There will always be a way!

WickedLasers is American... thus it doesn't need to comply with FDA "importing"... not sure if it matters that they are produced elsewhere... maybe they'll start making exotics!

yes and we'll be getting Output : <1000000W 589nm GOLDEN LASER OF DOOM.

I wouldn't buy a laser from wickedlasers ever, and certainly not a solid state handheld as unstable as 589. even their "high powered" 532's were horrid, and fluctuated like mad- theres no way they could make a 589 that could sustain >5mW.

Actually, they had a 589 at one point, no?

WickedLasers is American...

LOL wat.

No they ain't. They're Chinese. They may have stocked a warehouse in US (Dunno, did they?), but they're 100% situated in China.

The days of easily accessable high powered hand held lasers is rapidly coming to en end and that may not be a bad thing. They'll never be able to stop the importation of the parts needed to build high power hand helds. That said I'm really glad I bought my CNI 589 and JetLasers 473 last year right before they cracked down. I'm *really* tempted to grab one of the DL 589s as both an addition to my collection and as an investment.

Yep, grab the DL589 while you can. Be warned though, there are reports that the *really* overspec ones were sold off first though.

I saw this coming before I grabbed my DL589, and I'm very glad I did.

That being said... I am totally not against parting with mine. Particularly a 594.1nm Hene +PSU would be exactly what I ask for it (or equivalent funds to get just that).

Well not everyone has a brain bulging out of their skull so lol
Will have to look up at the laser gods for help

You try that and get back to us.

Sorry guys didn't mean to sound rude to anyone here...

Basically all you need is a frequency doubler(scroll down) and a 1064nm diode. Make sure the frequency doubler has 1064 as one of its acceptance wavelengths.

Just use the first frequency modifier.

If anything I said was incorrect PLEASE correct me.

how's the IR leak on those puppies?

I guess I need to learn how to make my own Dpss laser now. How hard can it be lol.
