Interested in the new Jetlasers 100mw 473nm PLE pro Mini

Here is a much better video showing the mode hopping and instability. I unfocused the laser and recorded this with manual video mode on my phone. 50 iso and a really high shutter speed. Its pretty bad. I dont really want to go through the hassle of returning it but im sure its going to be worth it

2:15 into the video it goes crazy for 2 seconds. That was strange

Nice two beam photo, Alex. I think you have enough material for Gray already. Just let him know as mentioned above. I have my laser just from yesterday, but it does not do that. I did not notice any mode hopping when playing with it. Maybe it was near TEM00 before warmup, but I would say it was TEM00 all the times. I observed the dot via my Univet goggles and even when playing with focus and beam expander nothing like this.

Edit: It has 1457 and 669 mAh consumed yesterday, I switched the batt as I thought it looses power but in fact it was out of focus what I noticed after. My unit looked quite stable when I observed it (no LPM yet). I played with it outside mostly so temperature was, as I mentioned, below usuall room temp.

Fresh info: Alex, mine switches to TEM01 or TEM10 under temperature of environment about 21 deg Celsius. Try to operate it under 15 and you will see. It goes back to TEM00 after I took it outside. Seems these like it cold. Not sure if your laser has any defect after that. You know DPSS. ;)

i tried a cold test. ya it was not good, It just mode hopped even more vigorously. laser its self was about 14c
 
Did you send him the photo of the two beams with it completely unfocused? That would also strengthen your case. If you haven't, I'd send it anyway asap.

Well, in that case there seems to be something wrong. Mine at 21 deg Celsius does it only when it get warm enough not all the times.
 
Here is an update from Gray, What is a coupler lens and how would a new one improve the laser. My knowledge about DPSS is very low. Exceptional customer service so far.

Did you return your 473nm PL-E mini to JetLasers and that is what they are testing with a new lens and if it does not correct it theywill send you a replacement OR are they testing a replacement unit with a new lens to be sure it has best possible output beam quality.

Either way JetLasers is sure to get it all sorted out for you.

Every good DPSS laser is the result of a technician's hand work during algnment and testing and differing parts lots so each is a little different and need to be optimized by a technician.

Exactly - in my words these lasers have souls. You need to study them and get know under which conditions they work the best. During my earlier attempt of laserpainting artwork, I'm just working on, I did not realize the temperature of my 473 nm was below its best working range and it gave me a very little output even it was not a problem for other DPSS lasers. It returned back to normal once the temperature was in that range. Now I got known it better.

I still have the laser. He is working on a new one. I asume when he has the new one ready ill ship back the old one and he will ship me the new one. Well see how it goes

IFyou have never shipped to China.... the forms are a PITA-- and the cost will be high--
if you prefer--you can send to me in Texas & once in my hands and tested Gray will help the same as if you sent it to China.
I have 3 units waiting to ship and room for many more--IMHO JL 473s need to be VERY warm to operate nicely.

this might me a little off-topic, but I am really desperate.

Here is my problem:
I ordered a Jetlasers Pl-E mini 473 nm on the 5th of april and paid via paypal. Now since the 6th of april where the order changed to "payment accepted" I have not heard anything from Jetlasers. I wrote them multiple e-mails asking when they will change the status and when it will get shipped.

At first I thought maybe they have some sort of holidays but now I know that they have been answering to members on the forum during this time which makes me even more worried.

Is it possible they're trying do some selctive or exit-scam? :(

My next action will be a dispute through paypal!

I really need some advice what I can do about this.

JetLasers is 100% reliable and honest company--you have nothing to worry about.

Send them another email--they will get around to replying shortly---they are a very busy place---email to Attn: Gray in subject line to both email addresses jetlasers@gmail.com and support@jetlasers.com

Okay, hopefully they just forgot about my order an will reply soon. 6 days without communication is a very long time though :thinking:
