Hey there chaps ,
I have been looking for a decent RGB laser for a while now , still haven't really found one that catches my eye.

  1. Looking for a laser that is portable
,
  1. Output of each diode can be mechanically tuned individually to vary the color of the beam.
  1. Can be focused to infinity
  1. Uses 18650 cells (preferred but not compulsory)
  1. Aggregate Min Output of over 1W

I have a budget of around $300 USD .
I have some knowledge about basic electrical work now ,so if the modules is going to require some soldering and breadboard wiring. I guess I'm fine with it as long as it ships in a package with the schematics laid out :yh:

PS:
This isn't really that much of an offer , but more of an Invitation to Treat.
Still rather unsure of what to expect of a portable RGB laser if I'm honest...

Look in THIS thread. What you want will cost closer to 3000 dollars than 300 dollars. You will need:

3 x Quality Diodes in RGB
2 x Dichros
3 x Drivers(the nice kind)
1 x Precisely made host with optical tray in front of diodes
1 x Loads and loads of time

I think he meant handheld laser. Also, for infinite variability he would need to change that to analog modulation as opposed to TTL. It would be a good baseline RGB laser however. And since what he is looking for can't be had for his pricerange, it may well be his best option.

That's way I linked that one. For 300.00 that is as close is he will get:D

hmmm... Techhood.... laserlands...
I've read a few reviews about them on the forum...
Are they any good in terms of durability and upgradability?
Coz I plan to probably add in a galvo when I know what I am doing (now that's a scary thought lol, learning lasers is like learning Icelandic)

PS: I just noticed that they have almost identical pictures .... even the wiring looks the same ...whats with that?

For some reason , almost all of the laser modules I see looks exactly the same with almost the same board layout , even the wiring is the same.
What is going on????
Is everyone using Techhood???

Moved this to the general section, as its turned into more of a discussion than anything else.

No, those are car companies , as far as I'm aware they don't make lasers.

now you are just trolling me.

I did not experience this. Maybe because I let it dry with the case opened.

They are the same unit. The driver board is different on the techhood version, that's about it.

Thats kinda fishy....

Epicham, techhood and laserland are both cheap Chinese sellers. They are not owned by the same company I do not think, so they aren't really comparable in that sense. A closer car analogy would be:

Techhood=Ford Ranger Truck
Laserland=Mazda B Series

Mostly the same parts, but different companies. Whereas Toyota an Lexus are different parts same company. It's kinda backwards.

try member flaminpyro. he used to make a tri diode mount with heatsinks and dichros, and adjusters based off of the PHR sled. you would then install all electronics and adjust yourself. I saw one of his in real life, he built it into a clear small hobby box.

but as others have said, good luck to be around 300. come on man, you have been here long enough to know this isn't going to happen. Just parts alone to build 1 blue laser is about 100usd.

Michael.
