Does the output show any increase with the 3.6v batteries?

My guess would be no since the current going to the diode is regulated. But since it is only a guess, I would not try it and besides you would still run the risk of damaging the regulator.

I agree Gazoo mine is performing great so if it ain't broke don't try to fix it ;)

That's not how I remember it...

"If it ain't broke, fix it... and if it still ain't, fix it again..."

;D

I would like to see a measurement of the current usage with 3.6/3.7V rechargeables as opposed to 3.0 primaries.

DUDEZ THIS THREAD IS LONGER THAN DDL's DIY DRIVER THREAD!!! W0000T w00T support ur thread

Plus, I hjavent boon able to find CR123 batteries anywhere!! plz helps !!

amkzzz

As RedGreen says, "If it ain't broke, you havent tried hard enough"!

That power pot has a bunch of glue on it -- I'll work on that later but for now, it will focus down to burn skin and out to produce a good beam.

Same here, mine is awesome. The only way I would mod it is if the diode ever burns out, but I think it is going to last for quite a long time :)

If it ever does burn out I will replace the diode with an open can and replace the driver with a 700ma AMC7135, but cut the current down to 600ma's. This would give an output of ~300mw's :o I would use 1 protected RCR123 and a dummy cell..and possibly a small peltier to keep it cool...this would be an awesome setup! I think I just got carried away with my thinking..... ;D

It's the ***3.6V*** rechargeable CR123A batteries that may need to be avoided.
But there are 3.0V rechargeable CR123A batteries (see below).

I've been using these 3.0V CR123A bateries:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5639

These other DX items relate to 3.0V CR123A batteries:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5406
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.723
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1191
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1236

The ONLY thing you ALL need to know is this : Using rechargeable CR 123 batteries WILL void your warranty :( That is the info I was given, so I am simply the messenger here :( I know there are some 3.0v RCR's out there, but the initial voltage spike right off the charger is STILL too high for reliable usage. I would highly recommend just sticking to the standard CR123's - they are NOT expensive bought in bulk, and I have used the Battery station.com no-named ones for years with no issues (Gazoo - I KNOW where you stand on cheap-o batts :( ) I have never had any Lithium batts pop on me, etc....

Thnks guys for the links, they REALLY helped. Ordering as I speak (the batteries, not a laser, im ordering the batteries).

thanx,

amk

Nope - no more of these at all :( Sorry you missed out...I CAN tell you this : THERE WAS PLENTY OF TIME ! LOL !!!!! Wow...this has GOT to take the record for the longest GB in history...but at least I THINK everyone is satisfied ? Well - minus that delusional pic-r-this freak....he will NEVER be happy with anything....

Yeah, I went there again :P Feeling nostalgic, I suppose !

is there any easier way to focus the sentorch other than taking a tiny screw driver and slowly turning it?
