In Depth Look - 532nm PGL-III-C 800mW!!!!

WoW how sweet it is. I really would like one in this up cumming GB

Nice shots

@johnaston, if by better beam you mean better divergence, yes, any multi mode 445nm diode will be smoked by the divergence of an RPL 532nm

@wannaburnstuff. roughly equal, really? I compared my old 700mW (990mW peak) 532nm PL-E with my 1.5W rifle, there's no doubt, the PL-E was brighter. It's really evident in daytime. though I am also waiting on my RPL, and sold my old PL-E mechanical before I could compare it's brightness with my dominator. no doubt, 3.3W is bright as hell, I'm sure 2.5W would be too

@shakenawake I was talking about beam brightness. I was using the brightness calculater so what I was saying may be inaccurate.

TBH my 3W Dominator isn't that much brighter than the 1.3W C6. The difference gets bigger if you look sideways, but it's certainly less than 2x brighter. OTOH I must have a really high wavelength Dominator (or low C6), because the color is *very* different, even to people that are not into lasers. The C6 is clearly violetish, while the Dominator is a very pure shade of blue.

Great review! This makes me want one :)

I love my 532nm PGL-III, but the output is only 250-300mW :p

The LED Indicator is decent, however I would like for it to come on when the key is turned. This would show that the button is live when pressed. Currently, LED only turns on when button is depressed.
I think it has to be that way for FDA compliance, not sure.

Very nice, I was looking forward to your PGL-3C 800mW , It's right on the money no doubt about that.. The production time of about a month is outrageous for a company imo, That is meant to be a professional source of products, Thanks to you Isaac that way we all know what we should expect.. Time and patience are two difficult things for a hobbyist to endure! But nevertheless all worth it.. Congratulations on the new high powered 532nm Laser.

Isaac, great review!

With mine I had a small issue with the shutter not opening fully....when you feel the shutter set open it was still clipping the beam by an infatecimal amount Beamage looked ok but my dot was a long axzis mess.

Quickly figured I had to add a few inch lbs of force upon opening the shutter. Also be carefull with the battery cap it feels as though you could easily crossthread it.

Thanks for all the responses! Possibly my favorite part of getting a new Laser is making the review thread for it. :)

And yeah, the battery cap's threads feel like they WANT to crossthread if you dont put it back on perfectly.

the color difference is due to the power ...mainly!

When I compare ( what I think is a superblue 447nm) a @1.5w compared to a 3watter, the lower power always seems more violet JMO

@PhaserII: this has also been my experience. light is crazy, your brain plays tricks on you with it's photo-prossesing software

I think we're saying that the higher power SEEMS bluer when, and only when compared to weaker blue laser. weaker one seems just as blue by itself. I feel like we're hijacking this thread. sorry. on with the PGL-III-C and it's most incredible 800mW

Is the 850mW you mention peak output? does it drop below 800mW? between those two would be a most stable 532nm. my old PL-E 700mW varied by hundreds of mW, high peak and low trough

Awesome I would rep you, but, errrr..... :)

I hear that the higher power the larger (fatter) the beam so maybe a 500mW might have better divergence due to the smaller pump diode?

Nooooo, ill cross my fingers

HOLY HEATSINK BATMAN!

850 was average on weak batteries. Didnt drop below until batteries couldnt handle it anymore.

Nice review. I must be one of the few here who really doesn't care much for 532nm lasers but after seeing the high power ones from the recent GBs I may have to snag one soonish.

I have some quarrels with high powered 532 lasers:

1. The tendency towards splash - luckily this one has a very clean beam.
2. .........

Yeah I think thats about it :) I am going to try and do my 671 review here pretty soon by the way, just need to find a camera setting that will display it accurately.
