What if the plastic, expanding "beam" was made of metal with little holes in in to allow plasma to sip through? It would be closest to performing like a lightsaber. In a lightsaber fight, lasers would just go right through each other without interaction, but if it was made of metal with hot plasma it would give out not only light, but cutting power and a physical resistance.

it could be done:

chemicalparadigms » Lightsabers, fact or fiction?

Now who is gonna build it :)

I think the problem mostly lies on the massive amounts of power needed in a small enough package, and keeping the handle cool to the touch. Time to review my thermodynamics :-D

Retarded? whats your problem buddy? If you don't like it don't read it, simple as that.

If you watch the video (I had to goto YouTube to watch it) You'll see how it's a little "retarded" to think your going make one any time soon. Even the unit he made has a flaw, It's going get to hot to even hold it if everything even works out.
