I Made A Theremin!

I see you got that resistor installed the correct way, +rep for that. :D

Yeah I seemed to have worked it out

Many of you will recognize the sound used in many great movie soundtracks such as: Rocketship X-M, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Thing (From Another World) and many others.

Alan

What about the most famous of all!! The opening sequence to Star Trek!!!

I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the schematic but I noticed something...

Check the coil/transformers and the PCB silkscreen.

12V AC = 16.9V DC.

1.414 x Vac = Vpk. When using rectification and low pass filtering the input stage sees this Vpk (minus the voltage drop of the diodes, but that applies to both AC and DC).

Plus AC input generally has a larger margin of safety since there is no regulation. Line voltages can vary between 90Vac and 135Vac in many areas without being considered abnormal, so when using a standard AC output wall wart that says 12V it could actually be (up to) 13.5V which would be 19Vdc.

I wouldn't worry about putting <17V DC into it at all.
