How Will you Name your Laser?

Just finished a 1W 635nm build in a SH032 so now I must think of a name....it is sexier than the C6 I had planned for it so I must think of a sexy name....

Also, my LaserBee A arrived today and I am waiting on batts to charge to take down my LPM measurements on this new laser! :) It has been a GREAT day!
 





Isaac, I am so jealous! My Ophir head is going to have to wait until I sell the SAiK...Now officially named Khaleesi. lol!

Post a pic of the host..I'm not familiar with it.
 
Actually n2stuff that is the driver I used! I was going to use one of DTR's drivers at 1.4A, but the wavelength would have shifted so high it would no longer have that great redorange feel to it. And I am a wavelength junkie now so I went with 1050mA Iron4D driver.

Scumbagatheist if you click on the link beside my 532nm laser(in my sig) you can see the style host. This one is much shinier than the one in that thread though, and the heatsink is gold plated. When these batteries are done charging I will take a few videos and post a thread about it. :)
 
Sounds cool. Are you getting that orangish-red? I haven't had one of these diodes yet. That must be pretty serious @ ~1A! My little ~300mW 650 already burns pretty well.
 
I haven't done any burning yet(charger taking FOREVER) but I imagine it will burn similar to my 255mW 650 simply because of the bad beam specs. These multimode 635nm diodes spread the beam really quickly along the fast axis. At perfect focus, it is either a flat fan looking beam or a square beam. Up close I may be able to burn stuff though.
 
Haha...nah, burning is brilliant. Love it. But yeah if I want a burner it is 405 all the way ;) Anyway, I will stop thread jacking now! :p

I have the 3 Furies on the way. the Erinnyes; Alecto 405nm, Tisiphone 445nm, and Megaera a red not sure what wavelength yet. :)

Oooh Sexy. :) Nice. We'll see what the name will be. The Laserbee looks like a good investment too.
 
One of my other hobbies (I have several) is model rocketry and I name all of my scratch builds,I have 19.Here's a few..Vesuvius,Twilight zone,Bumble bee and Red matter.Seems like they all could be used for LASER names.....that's all I'm giving away for free :)

Those might make good adjectives...But, it's hard when you tell someone to go over to your collection of lasers, and you ask, "Bring me the marvelous one."

At some point, there's too much marvel!
 
Ooh, speaking of Marvel, how's about Super Hero names!!! I think I shall name a Laser Loki, and one Thor....
 
Loki is a perfect name for a PL520 build! He wore green, and you'll make everyone as envious as Loki was of Thor when you show it off!

I think I have found my PL520's name! :beer: +1 for making this thread!

Also, I am thinking about naming my Osram 450 Single Mode build Serenity, after the firefly ship.
