How to take the lens out of an aixiz holder without mangeling it? =)






Are you planning to open up that black peice of plastic covering the lens to allow more light to the lens? If so, all you need to do is take a small pair of scissors or even needle nose plyers and clip the plastic away carefully. Just be patient and do it right. I've done it well over a dozen times and have never scratched the lens.
Note: In some cases that piece of plastic has simply *popped out* with a light prying while trying to open it up.

Thanks! And yeah I wanted to make that small hole in the back bigger to allow the most amount of light to pass through the lens.
 
what is your diode used?? BR or red one??
why do you want the small hole to be bigger?
 
Throw it away.

It is a 50-cent lens.

Find one of the new yellow-AR-coated Aixiz glass lens assembly (under$10) and it will improve the BR's.

..to answer your question: you can push the lens and aperture out! screw the lens"module" into the casing as normal, flush. so the whole threading is used, but the "module" isnt recessed. then use a plastic pen (or something) to push the lens in. yes, you push directly at the acrylic lens! put a sheet of tissuepaper in between, perhaps. no scratches, all goues out easily. a bit hard the first time, then its easy going in and out again. i didnt even scratch the coating on a ar coated acrylic.

screw your lens into the module UPSIDE DOWN, so that the "back" is facing outwards, now screw it in untill the top part (the layer of plastic to be cut) is sticking above the metal surface of the aixiz module, now use a razor blade and slide it across the module, this will let you make one clean cut and slice off the entire back of the lens.
(credit to this idea goes to someone else, i just remember reading of it, and it works the best)
 
yes, this sounds like the best way to remove the aperture, I will try it!

however, to *open* it, my method is easy.. I use it to swap lenses, like experiment with sled-lenses and stuff.
