Help with White Laser

I was just playing around with some old 3d movie glasses' lens and noticed that if you put 2 of them together, it becomes opaque. Rotating of the lens will make it more transparent. It will also allow more laser light to pass through. Is there a way to implement this in an rgb device to adjust the brightness of each laser? (no hardware modification)

Read up on polarizers.

It is certainly possible with a polarized laser beam. But, you need actual optical grade polarizers for good results. Easier and cheaper to just go with analogue drivers.

I'm talking about a device that will decrease the brightness without having to adjust the hardware. Can I put one of those cheap variable camera lenses in front of each of my lasers and be able to adjust the brightness of the laser through it?
 
Depending upon how much power your laser is putting out, and the diameter of the beam, it very well may cook the coating off of the camera filters you put in front of it. Forgive me, but let me make sure I understand, you just want to vary the output level of the beam, set it to one value, and then not adjust it again, correct? If you want dynamic changes of power output level, controlled by something, I would just use TTL or analog control, look into that instead.

Edit: If you just want a fixed amount of output power you can change and then leave alone, you could just turn down the current from the driver going to the laser diode to reduce the level a lot instead of getting into stuff like this. I think I am out of anything more to suggest at this point. Good luck!

Ok, guys, I have some good news and some bad news.
Firstly, the good news is that I've managed to complete a basic 'prototype' RGB slider box so I can properly test out the variable 5v inputs to get the various WL combinations
and thanks to diatchi's simple suggestion on how to hook these variable slider Pots up, it was so easy and works a treat !!!

Now 'the bad news':
I'm still rostered on for night shift for the next few nights and it's been raining heavily here all afternoon and evening so no outside night time beam shots, sorry Mr Alaskan and GSS (Peter).

As soon as I get a chance I'll post some outside shots but I might start a new thread because I've inadvertently taken over the OP's (Dog) thread.

Cool, good work. I don't think the Dog minds the thread goes this way, should be helpful for him too.
 
Ok, the weather's been very unsettled lately and so this was a very quick setup outside so I could grab a test shot of the RGB White beam that this little beauty produces.
According to the specs, divergence is at around 0.8 mRad and 400mW combined power.

I'll be starting a new thread as I start to plan my build.

Wow, thank you. Amazing, first time I have ever seen a white laser beam shot into the sky, I bet anyone else who sees it can say that, unless they have seen yours.
