Help with making a 405nm Laser

For a PHR-803T I would suggest a current of 100mA for long life and less risk. I would also suggest getting a new OEM PHR-805T from HERE instead so you have no risk from extraction. For a driver I am much more of a fan of Buck drivers rather than linear for several reasons so I would suggest you hit up Lazeerer for an X-Drive HERE (set to 120mA for a PHR-805) and one of his X-Blank contact boards. X-Drives are IMO the best drivers around for stability, reliability and efficiency. If you felt like an easier route there is one linear driver that I like called a round Mohgasm and Blord sells them quite reasonably priced. They have a round PCB and act as their own contact bored so working with them is incredibly simple.

As for batteries, that isn't a very good deal TBH and I would suggest getting those same cells HERE or a cheaper unprotected but larger quantity of cells HERE. If battery capacity is a concern THESE kick butt for cheap.

I can't find his x-blank contact boards and i can get 2 phr 805t's for cheaper than the link you gave me (its an extra 10 bucks for postage). Thanks for the battery links and do you know anything about the negative connection (how it gets from the tail cap to the actual circuit boar)?
Thanks :)

Completely changed my plan now. So im gonna use the c6 host from survival laser (with a purple heat sink to match my phr diode :D) and im going to use 2x RCR123's which will output 8.4V fully charged because the phr uses about 9V, doesn't it? and i need a small driver board so i have found one that can handle multiple batteries with the total of up to 12V. I just need the final okay from a more experienced member, i don't want to stuff anything up.

Edit: How do i get the negative to the circuit board, i know it travels through the case, but am i supposed to solder the negative to the brass ring around the board?

PHR diodes use a maximum of around 6V. The driver always causes a voltage drop, typically ~2V Uses 8-8.4V unless it is a boost type in which case it takes a single cell at 4.2V.
Yes, RCR123A cells are only able to do 3.0V whereas 16340 will do 4.2v and are Li-ion.

Ask Lazeerer about the X-Blank.

The negative connection is the entire host. You can literally connect it however you want but I typically solder a bridge to the pill from the contact board. The pill from SL will come with a brass ring that makes soldering this bridge far easier. Just make sure you solder the the contact board or round driver into the brass ring prior to pressing it into the pill otherwise it can make it more difficult.

However you feel like getting the diode is up to you. Just beware that not everyone on ebay is truthful nor does everyone know how to handle diodes correctly. I didn't think about international charges from cajunlasers so I forgot to put that into account.

Cheers everyone  thanks for all your help :)

Does lazeerer still sell these? he hasn't responded to my 2 emails :/

I just got one a few days ago. Try using PM instead of email. It usually takes a day or two for him to get back usually because he gets a ton of PMs.

Update :D
I have ordered almost everything im just waiting on lazeerer to respond about the driver board. I got the host from dx.com because shipping from survival laser is just too high. I got a heatsink, aixiz module and press tool from cajunlaseres ( so i could of got the diode from there). I got the diodes and goggles off ebay, i got 2 so if one breaks in the mail or something or i brake it, i have a spare (could of ordered this from cajunlaseres after all). The dust caps, batteries and charger i got from dx as well.

Might as well take you time getting the driver since it will be a while to get stuff from DX lol. Lazeerer hasn't made any posts in the last few days so it is very possible he is just being swamped with PMs.

Cool, thanks. As soon as i saw the price for shipping on survival laser i closed my browser haha. I'll just wait a few more days and see if he reply's :)

From SL, IMO the S4 hosts are not bad for the price. I have three myself and they are some of the more solid hosts I have used. Thir cool down times are better than normal and this is aided by the well designed heatsink fins that are part of the design. In price alone however they can be beat.

Don't mean to be pushy, i know lazeerer is a very busy man, but its been about 4-5 days now and he hasn't replied to my inquiry about shipping to Australia for the X-Drive. Is this normal?
