I have this HeNe laser. The gas tube is about the size of a dollar. It says it's made by uniphase. Any idea of the specs of it? I searched around on google but couldn't find anything that looked like it.

Usually the really small tubes are a fraction of a milliwatt......

That's a tiny tube.

Nice though, make a portable HeNe "pointer" with it :)

Yeah I wasn't expecting it to be all that strong but I thought it would be at least a solid milliwatt. Do you know what model it is or what it is worth?

Most small tubes are in the 1mW area, unless it's more than 5-6" long it probably won't be more than 2mW

Looks very similar to the tube that was originally in this module. It's spec'd at .95 mW

I've since replaced the dead tube with a similar Melles Griot tube at 1.5 mW.

I have one of those little uniphase tubes, it has an output of approx 1.25mW, thats what the sticker on mine says atleast.

Tubes this size were mainly used in barcode scanners and laserdisc players.

Just get a power supply rated for 1.1 to 1.5 KVDC 4.5 mA and let it run.

They will bite even at 1100 volts. and they hold a charge so they bite after their off as well.

Gas lasers are nice....

Where could I find a power supply like that? Checked ebay but they didn't seem to have anything.
