[HELP!] Laser reflected into its own lens, weak burning now

So I have a laser I was burning stuff with, and when I tried to burn this aluminum object, the light reflected in its own lens and when i use the laser, it looks foggy. But it does work, because it burns, just the only problem being a blurry looking lens so it doesn't focus properly.

What can I do? Bought a 4.5w laser from SciFi lasers

Arcane 2.0 445nm

Sounds like you might've just messed up the lens, better than killing the diode.. funny just last night i got a little to curious and ruined a 250mW red Laser by reflecting it onto itself.

Could be - i'm not sure if it's possible to burnt the coating on a lens from a focussed reflection.

One way to figure it out is to remove the lens, and shine the diode onto a white wall / paper etc. If the output pattern is even, brightest in the middle, the diode could be okay.

If it has a dark spot in the middle or uneven output it has been damaged. Multimode diodes can be damaged like that and still produce quite a bit of light output.

I would first try to determine if it is the lens before buying a new one. A laser that powerful reflecting back into itself should normally kill the diode, I would expect the diode is damaged, but that is not certain.

if your nearby i could mail you a new lens. do you know what type was in the laser? just ask eitan if your not sure.

The only thing i can see is a white rectangle - i hope this is not the result of shining the laser directly into a camera :D

I can see the problem, the window in his laser diode has been damaged.
