Hey everyone been browsing LPF for a few years. Decided to make an account and indulge in this lovely laser hobby. Owned quite a few 532nm over the years. Thinking of trying a build in the near future. Thanks for this community of amazing people.

Have a great day guys,
Anthony

I’ve read quite the few stickies around the forums to get some base knowledge of the forum just out of respect.

Welcome, what are you thinking of building? At first I thought you meant a 532 nm laser, but DPSS isn't where someone would normally start, if ever.

Welcome aboard, enjoy and be safe.

It’s the only way to play ;)

No, not trying with a 532nm. I was thinking starting with maybe a 638nm as they’re more tough and flexible for beginners as I’ve read on here.

I don't know if a 638 nm laser diode is any better to start with than any other, but one drawback for red laser diodes (unless single mode) is their horrible divergence when using a normal ~6 mm diameter collimation lens.

I’ve must of read wrong, my apologies. However there is so much knowledge on this forum. I’ll continue to research builds and learn from the tutorials and resources this place has.

Do not forget to track your project in separate thread (include pics, videos, whatever...). You can get various comments on your build from people there. Good way for design and step by step building IMO (I would do it like this). It would be also pleasure for members here to see how your laser is created and you will have your first own tutorial written concurrently. Just tip for a nice thread. ;)

Welcome to the LPF, Anthony. I hope you are able to learn much here and once you have some basic knowledge by using the search bar at the bottom of the page, feel free to ask questions you may have trouble finding an answer to.
