I just joined the forum a few minutes ago after I stumbled across it earlier today. I was doing some web searches for laser safety practices after receiving my 2W 450nm yesterday. this site came up pretty high up on the list of search results and after browsing the forums here I could quickly see that this place was worth revisiting and, hopefully, eventually be able to contribute to.
I am no laser expert to be sure, but I do have more than the average layman's knowledge of them and have been fascinated by them since I was a kid. Prior to yesterday my most powerful laser was a 75mw 532nm WL (which I still absolutely love and find very useful). However, it didn't take long to realize that this new blue beast is something on a whole new level and must be given the same respect one should give a loaded firearm. I intend to treat the beam like a bullet, knowing that once it leaves the tube it can never be recalled and it's effects are entirely my own responsibility. Pretty sobering when you think of it that way and should remind anyone that these things are not toys and can have life-altering effects from misuse.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself, say "Howdy", and compliment everyone on how nice the site is.
