Has your Laser addicton led you to be a creature of the night?

I am glad to hear that I am not alone with the effects on health. Sleep I normally get 3-5 hours, but it also has effected me socially. I would rather be building then anything else..... Friends, girlfriend, family are all mad I don't do as much. Also lasers have caused me to be even more stressed because of financial impacts. Anytime I see a good deal it's hard to pass on it and it makes things even tighter then they should be.

Also forgot to add my grades have dropped because between work and school I already have no time but then when I get home I jump on here or start building and I get no studying or homework done

I don't have a social life anymore outside of LPF  I'm lucky/unlucky that way :) Maybe a matter of perspective. Cherish them Sir.

I get migraines occasionally from the lack of sleep. That's a bit of a bummer :(

I've been burning through my cash pretty quickly as of late too ;)

I'm really liking star pointing. Right next to the airport. Can't resist though :D Lucky you have rural airspace Shaken :na:

well that's another good thing about rural airspace, more stars. like in this thread:http://laserpointerforums.com/f37/hello-colorado-83223.html

plus, some aircraft are really hard to see except against a very dark sky. I have seen aircraft on new moon nights, out in the country, and some had lights barely brighter than the dimmest stars, they were really only noticed by their movement and occasional blinking. my laser could certainly hit it if I had wanted to be stupid. my point is I'd be careful, it's possible to hit aircraft you can't even see. I see quite a few, even in rural skys

We have an airport about 20 kilometers from our place. I still point my lasers in the sky but i point them in the opposite direction to where the airport is and i normally point it at a hill or just above the horizon.

I'm pretty paranoid, but it's so amazing. More concerned about cops or neighbors really. Didn't think about not seeing the planes though, I'll keep that in mind. Dave's 200mw red is pretty subtle, SBA's 3W blue though is pretty dramatic. Only tried it a few times very briefly. A shame really :(

I frequently find myself losing sleep to research. Last night in my twilight stage, I was thinking of a 16340 powered aluminum laser orb. Now that I think about it with a rested mind, I see that being a very unlikely build

Also, i don't point it at anything that even looks like a star because it could be a plane. I am pretty paranoid when i use my lasers as well. I don't want anyone dobbing on me because i am a minor and they will think i am trying to take down a plane or something.

I sometimes do that as well :D I get a (what i think at the time) good idea at 1 in the morning and when i have a sleep i realize how useless and stupid it was :p

Why unlikely? I saw a DIY build a while back that used a tennis ball. Pretty cool actually.

I don't even point out in front of the aircraft's direction of movement, I wait for is to pass by a bit, and point behind it. often I do point only at stars I recognize as parts of constellations I'm familiar with

I finally went camping with my lasers on the 8th of june, a new moon, before the fire bans in Colorado. they make great camp buddies, I started the campfire with it, made liquid sky effects with the campfire smoke. plus focused wide it makes an excellent spot/flood light

Gents , back on topic.

Sweet success 5.3 hours tonight. Hoorah! Isaac you reminded me of the glow effect along with daytime light therapy, cardio and a shift in diet.

I am so relieved!!!

I shine my lasers at tree line near my neighborhood and the Moon. ALL my neighbors know its me, and have no issue. I also know one of the local deputies real well. He actually was showing me how to turn off street lights with my laser. ( officer GOOD) no lie...my age and once a rebel rouser himself.

A lot of good advice and the support from you all really helped. I am amazed I was able to do this in just a couple days /nights!!

Wheeeee! I feel good this morning!!!! Now let see it last!!
So relieved!!

PS didn't use my Lasers either. Sadly I feel its part of this issue.

Good to hear Sir, glad you figured it out :)

I can't even come close to a regular schedule. I have to sleep when I can weather that's morning afternoon evening or night, most days I have to sleep twice a day. I also have a very severe problem with rapid heart rate and high BP and other symptoms that often prevent me from sleeping.

I set up my lasers and optics every Saturday late morning/ early afternoon in my garage (converted into a studio) with the lights out and a fog machine, and photograph them to my hearts content, usually around 3 hours each session. Living in NJ and in the flight path of Newark Airport it is not a good idea to play with lasers outdoors. Of the thousands of laser pics I have taken, I have only photographed them outdoors in a snow storm and heavy fog twice, and they were in my backyard and behind the building I work in. My wife will tell you I am obsessed with photographing them, but it does not interfere with my normal daily life

Sorry to hear that Alan. Do you know the cause? A family member of mine was able to control his BP by diet alone (reducing salt, meat and cholesterol intake) He hates pills.
