Hangover Thread

If I like a place I usually try to befriend the bouncers. Most prefer a tip instead of a drink though. Many of the better places frown greatly on bouncers drinking...

I also try to find out the name of the owner or at the very least manager. I'm not too worried about getting beaten... I'm not exactly a small guy... but it is nice to be able to cut the line in front of people when I'm there next time.

I've bounced biker bars, and strip clubs. So the etiquette is a little different. And it doesnt matter how big you are, a nerve pinch in the palm will bring the biggest guy to his knees. You just have to watch out he doesn't come back with a shotgun. I cant tell you how many times my life has been seriously threatened. But most of the places were "connected" in one way or another, so nothing really came of it. I used to do "security" in a few houses too.

I'll take your word for it... I've been to biker bars 2-3 times total in my life. Now as for stripclubs that's a different story... but I've never had any issues in confrontations, stripclubs love me:o. I mean I put my fist through a wall when it was getting close to a fight last time I was in a tense situation, and things just cooled off after that.

Funny thing about nerve pinches... two of my friends started taking krav maga lessons, and one wanted to show me the nerve pinch.... never got to me without somehow ending up in a headlock:eg:

I always drink a glass of water after I quit drinking. I always seem to wake up a few hours after I first fall asleep. I will chug a couple glasses of water or Gatorade. Once I get up, more Gatorade and a nice breakfast with bacon, eggs and toast will do wonders.

Also, although I don't recommend it for obvious reasons if they aren't prescribed to you, a vicodin or 2 will do wonders for the headache and the general crappy feeling.

Believe it or not water doesn't do much. When you get dehydrated you lose salts, and other electrolytes. You need these for your body to properly rehydrate. You're better off putting a large tablespoon of iodized salt in the water before you drink it.

Tried the "hangover" thing a few times and decided that I REALLY didn't like it !
So for the last 20 years I just stay awake and drink water until I'm just a little less than sober. Being tired is better than being hung over.
During my younger days I could bounce up after 3 hours and feel great. And I did it enough times to know.
But as age catches up with me I'm getting more tired before I can get drunk. After 2 or 3 drinks I'm full, not even buzzed, and just relaxed enough to want to go to bed.
And the back injuries/nerve damage only let me sleep for 3 hours.

An oxy and few shots
Opiates and Alcohol = VERY bad idea.

Key to not getting a huge headache is to avoid sugary drinks, and mixing different
kinds of liqour. Choose your poison and stick to it.

^^^For me that's pretty much all of the above! Except for the back and nerve damage. Advil+chocolate milk afterwards seems to do the trick for me. As well as trying to stick to ONE kind of drink.

It's a hell of a trip if you know what I mean:shhh:

Anyway happened to me once, more or less unintentionally. As for actual approach to hangover - refer to my first post in this thread;)

Exactly what i said earlier, if i have sugary mixers, the next day i'm a write-off.

To be honest I never noticed any difference in the severity of the hangover that depends on the sugar content of the drinks. Probably just me though.

From my college days the worst part was occasional uhm... evacuation of the stomach contents orally... but aside from that, my hangovers rarely consist of more than just being tired.
