Hi all,
Just introducing myself. I'm actually a software engineer, but in my spare time (lol like I have any with the kids nowadays) I have been known to collect light bulbs, among other things. Lasers too, though my collection has been a single HeNe laser I got for Christmas around 30 years ago when I was around 10!
I also do such things as run, burn wood, fix cars (especially so because I have a land rover), off-roading, and playing Liszt.
I've also been known to destroy a light bulb or two, with a gun, on occasion - as evidenced below.
Great forum here - I've been here before for years now but just joined because I was startled recently when I realize I could build a 1W+ blue laser for less than $25K. Much less! Last time I played with that much power was doing Raman spec with an Argon gas laser (and a Kr version too). I used to be drawn to danger when I was younger - for example I was working with fluorine gas, noble gas compounds, and explosive uranium azides during my time at college in the UK. But now I am safety conscious, and looking to build a few laser systems (rather than pointer) - already have my safety specs.
Ok enough for now. Happy new year to anyone who reads this
