A small AC to DC power supply similar to the ones used for laptops.

No, you can definatly see the beam... but I can't seem to pick it up on my phone camera. I'll try get my friends DSLR camera with long exposure and show you the beam. It's really nice... very lime green!

DC power supplies convert the HeNe requirements to a manageable dc voltage. You still have to convert to AC to plug it in the wall.
So from the plug it is:

DC adapter (AC to DC)
HeNe Power Supply (DC to HeNe requirements)
HeNe tube

AC and Lab power supplies connect to the HeNe tube on one side and the other side plugs in the wall directly, so it's one less piece.

Wall-wart is slang for a DC adaptor that has a big ugly plug that blocks other plugs in your ac outlet. They are rated for DC voltage (3v/6v/12v etc) and for current output. You need to match it to the HeNe DC power supply (usually 12v or 24v)

Very nice buy ! Cant wait for the night shots !

Divergence on these is fantastic plus a very round dot. I can see my 2-3 mw yellow with just a little smoke. The 10mw red without any (depending on angle)
