Gold is good: 589nm Dragonlasers 50mW+ experience

trencheel303: cheers, man. Money always seems to be the problem, I can tell:]. Seriously now, the hunt for 589nm is over for me now, hope the Spartan will last as tough and long as its name goes. Hard to predict these exotic wavelength prices, but dragonlasers with their current offer surely are in the market big time!

hwang21: kind words appreciated:). Happy I am, indeed. Smiling with a little sun in pockets:D.

Okay...I guess I need to get Photoshop lol. By the way, for those that do not yet know I am Wannaburnstuff. I had Avery change my username.

I love all of these photos and the vibrancy is amazing! Makes them look surreal.

IsaacT: And I wondered where this avatar familiarity and hint in the member's name come from:D. I'll miss the wannaburnstuff nickname... but life goes on! Thanks for the continuous support:beer:.

I don't think you need photoshop, just crank the saturation in camera right up.

gismo, awesome "golden" photos sir!:) As was said earlier, what else is left to say; time to just sit back and admire an artist and his amazing work!

As you mentioned, about a D.L. 589 G.B., I'm kind of suprised that there hasn't been mention of one, since I've seen quite a few individual purchases recently.
Just in this thread alone, a couple people seem ready to order a piece of thier own gold! Heck, I'd even be interested if something came up, even a 2-3 pc order to save on shipping.

Ha! Welcome to the forum IsaacT, I am sure you will like it here and you might even learn something!

KapHn8d & BowtieGuy: thanks a lot for kind words, guys:). I figured it was just about time to create some simple album in my profile, so I've just done that and added some of the golden session shots posted in this thread to 589nm owner's group. I guess once I get a chance, some basic rainbow outdoor shots including the Spartan won't do any harm:D.

...and some trial & error diffraction grating play:p.

Thankyou for this superb review Gismo!

Your pics are of the utmost clarity and richness and your skills in the art of photography
really brings out the beauty of this 589nm gem, conveyed with both imagination and flair. :D

I wish I could take photos that are even half as good as yours.

I spoke with Adam at DL last night and had a nice conversation about these lasers. They have an internal TEC now which helps with stability and overall performance, older models apparently lacked this. They are currently in stock as well. I asked for one that is as stable as can be at the cost of raw power. I placed my order and he said it should ship by Friday.

Thanks again, Gismo, without your review I wouldn't have been alerted to this awesome deal!

Tha Greenlader & will manners: gratitude for the supportive words:). You're too kind.

Sigurthr: you're welcome, sir:beer:. Adam really is a good representative to communicate with. I didn't know about the enhanced option, nice find there! Hopefully all goes well to your liking and the piece you receive will satisfy your expectations.

Next to brucemir and IsaacT I'm glad to be helpful at least in a visual way, in case of other members who are commenting and/or thinking of buying the Spartan version at dragonlasers store.

Amazing gismo, "Gold is definitely good".
You're keeping us all glued to this thread as you keep adding more fine photos for us to gaze at!
P.S. - Your album is lookin good also.

The best part for me is that I can finally give you the +rep you deserve! :yh:

BowtieGuy: appreciate the rep, my friend. I can't do the same for you right now, but after I spread some over time, will do the same in return:beer:.

Thanks again all of you guys and watchers, for the supportive comments posted:gh:

I'm out of pictures, this shall be the last one for now to be posted:).

TEC? In portables?!

I don't think I can take much more of this...

Portable TECs aren't that uncommon actually. Most of the >$1k handhelds from the Asian market have had varying degrees of thermoelectric cooling for years, usually for the crystals, not the pump.

We typically don't see it much though since it requires a complex implementation. There needs to be both positive and negative feedback systems with plenty of hysteresis and the right current profile to prevent thermal shock. The thermocouple has to be precisely placed and the thermal profile of the host cannot be left to chance. Not to mention all of this needs to be squished into a small space that requires precision alignments.

We had a member make an active air cooled handheld a while back, but it wasn't a SHG wavelength build and it was a truly massive host.
