wannaburn, I just read back to Hemlock Mike's posts about the 6X sled that I got the picture from. According to him, the center diode is the Red, and the one on the right is the IR.
What do you think? It's important to me now, because of the picture that I posted. I want to fix the picture so that it avoids confusion...

I just lit one of mine up that I saved from the $300 6X sleds... The center one is the red.

Wes is using a different supplier, I can guarantee that. My supplier is a personal acquaintance in China. I dont really trust Wes, With his rep, and his reputation for scamming people, I do not think he will be able to do it right.

I doubt his prices are even real. I would not trust him with MY money.

anyhow, these CAME IN TODAY!!!  I will be packaging all night!!

round 3 list will be updated after i finish packaging up rounds 1 and 2.

Houston, we have a problem... This is my 20l sled, I used the red and BR leaving the IR. Are your pics GB sleds?

Edit* The red diode should be a long open can red. These sleds you guys have look like maybe 4x? My 6x was manufactured in spring 08. That burner cost me 450. in total, I have another here still new, but at 250$ I think Ill give the GB sleds a go first. Hopefully my original fears of the GB's being a :-/ 4x wont come true..

Well on mine the center one is a closed can windowless IR. On the right, you can see the typical shape of a red open can 'w' . If your lighting the center one up, you better watch your eyes The red I pulled out of mine was nice, I killed it by mistake and didnt get to test it , but I did get some time out of it and verify the colour

I took a closer look, you can see the coating for the red in slot #3 which also happens to have the larger heatsink.

The sleds are EXACTLY the same as in the picture.


so, Good News: I killed an IR diode

BAD news: How t f am I supposed to extract that red diode

Have you tried a hacksaw? I know it sounds lethal, but on tricky heatsinks I stick the diode/heatsink in a vise and use a hack saw and lightly file away at the heatsink. I do this till I am about ready to hit the diode. Then I do the same thing to the other side. From there I use the 803T technique and twist on opposite sides and the heatsink breaks.

darn it... Ill harvest the IR to see what that can do. also, I am not gonna harvest the Blu until my Kryton V2 comes, so the wait is killing me!!!
