Its a GGW-H20L 6x, maybe these numbers will help. Also I dont see why the diodes would be different, as the cubes and optics are the same, I would expect some sort of difference in arrangement if the diodes werent the same. The big question is, what are the GB sleds looking like? AMK any pics?

Mine was a long open can red. It looks like the same diode from a LG 22x. The new 6x I bought has lightscribe for graphics on your discs, not sure if that beefs up any numbers though. ::)

I just got word form GooeyGus who has also harvested several of the GGW-H20L 6X drives, and he told me that the red in his sleds was a closed can diode.

He said that it is a pretty good red. That he has one in a Kryton pushing 250mW's!

He compares it to the diode in a Dilda laser from DX. He says 300mA's to 330mA's. He says it is a 'long die', but closed can.

Looks like there are some differences (at least in the red diodes) in these sleds...

diode # 3 is a widowless canned diode with an UNUSUALLY long can. About as long as an Aixiz Acrylic Lens that come with the module.

Pics to come. I will upload stress tests if it makes it to the meter ;D

I hate to add more confusion but...

I had saved the red diodes from the two GGW-H20L sleds that I harvested. This picture shows one of them in it's heatsink, and one of them removed from the stock heatsink.

It has an longer can than the Sony/Senkat reds.

I put it into an AixiZ module and tested it at 300mA's. It gave me 165mW's through an AixiZ acrylic lens. Nice round red. At 330mA's - 182mW's.

Mine both had the blue box like this:

ok diode is dead. It had the same heatsink as in JayRob's pics, so Jay you try yours. The optics in front had red diode coating.

that is what my diode looked like.

i pumped 420mA's through it, and it was dead.

Hopefully the only difference in the sleds from my harvest, and the ones that wannaburn has, are the red diodes. His having the open can, and mine having the strange long can.

Hopefully the blu-ray diodes are the same! :D
