GB: 2$ copper modules ALL SIZES CLOSED

Guys just an update.
These will be shipped by the manufacturer by April 27th then FedEx Air to me and DTR then to everyone else. If you are in Canada or the US then it will likely take only a week to get to you, in Canada actually as slow as 3 business days because I'm going to use XpressPost for all of the canadian orders. For the US I believe it's about the same for your equivalent. For international it can be from 7-21 business days.

Great  just ask him to drop one from mars :P

We're going to need a different administration to do Mars. Heck, we need a different administration to do manned launches anymore. That was the last shuttle leaving the place and we have no real replacement for a manned launch vehicle on the horizon.

Very sad times for the USA when it comes to space. :yabbem:

Haha there you go again with your thermal properties again.

I am honestly at a loss on what to say here. I was under the impression that thermal properties were the ENTIRE reason for this group buy. It is the only reason I know of to use copper for the modules.

If these would have arrived brass, I would have been filing a PayPal dispute. Plain and simple.

With who? AnthoT? I didn't want him to be dealing with that. I wanted to make sure he didn't get in that situation.

That's why I wanted to make sure everybody had full trust in AnthoT to take good care of us.

I don't think ANYONE has suggested that AnthoT has handled this poorly or that they lack trust in him anywhere in this thread that I know of anyway. He has been outstanding in dealing with this issue.

The concern was to make sure that the alloy we received was correct.

It just sounded like 3 pages of bitchin and moanin. That is all.

It wasn't though. It was people trying to help make sure we got what we ordered. It isn't even so much about the money, it is about getting a good part. If it hadn't been caught in time, those of us who care about thermal properties would be left looking for a reasonably priced source for copper modules again.

Maybe I am very mistaken and maybe for most people this was just a way to get sub-$2 modules period. For me it was about getting >350W/m*k modules.

If AnthoT came back and said, "Hey these are gonna cost $3-4 each in real copper" I would have still been in for the buy. Price was secondary to the product for me. I've been paying $9-10 for copper modules, so I was hoping to save some money in the GB - but not at the expense of the product.

Maybe I am in the minority in that. If so, I apologize for making a big deal about it and getting involved in steering AnthoT towards a pure copper module. Thermal conductivity has always been my primary goal, but I realize now that I may not have been understanding the purpose of the GB. If it was just about price then I sincerely apologize. :o

I don't think you need to apologize tseele,
i just wasn't aware of some manufacturers referring brass as copper, and i must say if it wasn't for everyone who "complained" or "whined" then i may not have contacted the manufacturer about it. but i did and they changed it for me ASAP, it was just a bit more expensive but i think its my fault i didn't check into that in the first place so i sent them the extra little bit for the C11000 so that everyone would get pure copper or very good copper, which we will now be getting. And ill be very satisfied once everyone has received their modules and they are satisfied :) i am quite tired because dealing with chinese manufacturers (in this case we are exactly 12 hours apart so i have had very little sleep lately, but its all worth it in my opinion as i want to make everything in this hobby more affordable for everyone  and if anyone gets this and has any complaints about them, id rather you email me, PM me or something like that because I'm always willing to fix things that go wrong. :yh:

I agree AnthonT you been up front and in your face professional
about this GB... You have gone the extra mile to make sure that
the supplier will ship what you ordered and expect to receive...

I for one appreciate and thank you for all your efforts up to now...:gj:

I agree! I would go a step further and say that I don't mind paying more if necessary. I don't want AnthoT to get stuck with a huge bill while I run around with cheap copper modules on his dime just because he wasn't familiar with copper alloys and Chinese exporters.

If it will help, I will gladly give up my 33% extra modules so you can sell them to someone else to defray the extra expense! Or pay more per module if you need that instead. Please PM me if I need to send you more $ - I think you have handled it very professionally but I really don't mind paying more to cover the extra expense for pure copper.

tseele thanks for the offer its very generous of you :) you may keep your 33% modules and you don't need to send me more money :san: just enjoy them for your use, they are meant to help give you more for less :D

as for me appreciation is good enough for me ;)

Who knows? He could still pull a Steviedezie and up and leave couldn't he? I'm sure it's gonna take more than 45 days from my payment before these modules are at my door.

It just sounded like 3 pages of bitchin and moanin. That is all.

Edit: dethlore- ill sell you half of my modules if you would like.

  1. Thermal properties is EVERYTHING in this GB.
  2. Filing a dispute is not AT ALL a "plain and simple" solution. There's no point in filing a dispute with AnthoT when it wasn't his fault that the manufacturer told him it was copper (if we didn't "bitch & moan")
  3. Your points don't even make sense. How are you going to file a "plain and simple" dispute when you think "its going to take more than 45 days from your payment before the modules are at your door"?
  4. Fix the problem at the source, not the messenger.
  5. "Thats why you wanted to make sure everybody had full trust in AnthoT", but then suspect him to "pull a Steviedezie and up and leave"? <-- What are you really trying to say?
  6. It is DEFINITELY NOT "bitching and moaning".

Very disappointing that you of all people would post such a low-quality, thoughtless post. -rep

Ryan,

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that maybe there is some misunderstanding here. Maybe Jake meant that AnthoT could file the PayPal dispute. Not that he would file one against AnthoT.

You know by my posts that I completely agree with you about the thermal properties and that the idea of all these posts was to keep the alloy issue from turning into a problem, not about bitching.

THAT SAID, how about we all step back a moment and let's just wait for the modules to get here and then we can all +rep AnthonT like crazy people and be glad it worked out.

It seems like the fair thing to do at this point is to ignore the posts that seem to be directed at one group or another who had different ideas of what this GB was about and just concentrate on moving forward with the GB.

I think the main thing to take away from this is that AnthoT is handling this VERY classy and going above and beyond to make this happen and it looks like he has handled the alloy issues so we are good to go. + reps for all the people who did help make sure the alloy was correct from me!

Yeah, I gotta hand it to him. He's really ambitious for a new person, and I'm pretty confident that he'll come through time and time again. I mean, he's got a website, two drivers (one on the way other already for sale), a GB and he's only been on the forum a few months. And he's doing this ALL for the community, and is making very little profit along the way. I sure as hell wouldn't be able to pull any of that stuff off for a lot of reasons. He's done a lot of things for the forum in a few months that most have taken many more to even do one of them...

Glad to have you here Anthony.
