Let's hear all your laser hobby related predictions. I plan on updating this thread in the future and giving credit if anybody is actually right.
Ground breaking advances only please.
Here are some examples of past advances.
Green DPSS becomes common and affordable
-Blu-ray 405nm diodes become available to the hobby community
-445's come out and change the scene by providing the community with super powerful diodes at an affordable price.
-High power 638nm diodes start becoming common.
-465/462 diodes come out providing the community with some truly blue looking diodes.
-Green laser diodes come out
etc...
Personally I'm betting on combined RGB diodes of some kind. They won't be truly white, but they'll be close.
I'd like to bet on yellow laser diodes, but I really don't see any real demand to drive development. If you want yellow for a projector or light show you can just mix red and green. Green/Red/Blue laser diodes all had a reason to be developed. We're likely to be stuck with expensive and unreliable DPSS yellow well into the future IMO.
Predictions:
combined RGB diodes.
Cheaper 488nm diodes.
X-Ray laser diodes.
10+Watt blue diodes.
Cheaper diodes in the 470-490 range.
Yellow diodes.
