Re: Custom 7 Color DIY Laser Kit
OK so there are a few options to consider. I assume you at least want a White Fusion with lasers built in and alignment done so let’s start there.
Currently I have 4
tested GGW diodes coming in for Plug and Play White Fusions. These are 6x blu-ray diodes and set the mark for how much power the rest of the build will produce.
Here is the cost breakdown.
White Fusion Kit........$150 (minus any discounts you may have)
Tested GGW BRD.......$52
LPC Red...................$10
30mW Green Module...$20
Shipping to me..........$5
Total Parts for 6x......$237
EDIT: I can believe I forgot to put a 405 g1 lens option and the aixiz module in here.
I can cover the Aixiz no problem but add $60 if you want a
405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod-28% Increase vs AixiZ!!. In effect ths will increase the output of all 3 lasers by as much as 28% because the Green and Red are both under driven to balance with the BRD. Increase the BRD and the rest follow.
Feel free to substitute your own parts if you like.
Drivers are a variable.
You can go with any standard pen drivers and get a 7 color pointer or spiro. If you are going to go this route I suggest just using 3 lm317 DDL drivers. There is usualy room for them + Batteries in most enclosures. I can build all 3 DDL drivers on one board for a small fee.
FireMyLaser's driver that has controller built into it with 24 embedded programs for doing all kinds of effects. I haven’t seen this driver yet but I’m anxiously waiting for mine to arrive. From the demonstrations FML has shown I think it’s going to be a great choice for any laser hobbyist wanting turnkey effects in a small package.
Last but not least there is the
FlexMod drivers from Dr Lava. These are analog modulated drivers intended to be used for making a laser projector system. This means you will also need a computer, Software, DAC and Scanners to make full use of these drivers.
Driver Choices:
3x DDL.................................$20
FireMyLasers driver.................$60
Flex Mod drivers X3 shipped..….$95
Again you can supply the drivers if you have others in mind.
Now alignment and color balance is another variable at this point. I plan to build 4 at a time in order to reduce the time per build but still allow for individual attention to detail. My best estimate for the time cost for this will be between $50 and $75. I’m reserving the right to up this cost though because it may take longer to get perfect alignment and it doesn’t make sense to do all this and not end up with perfection.
This is as close to done as I think I can legally make them for people in some countries like the US.
Thanks,
Ryan
