i probably won't have any more hosts made. These just sold WAY too slow, even at a $10-15 loss per unit on my end....

I'll prob just go back to flashlight hosts.
I've got 3 different hosts on the way that i thought looked pretty cool.

I'll just have custom heatsinks made for them, along with batteries and a flex drive and sell them.
Basicly it would be the same setup at adrian's kits, two wires sticking out to solder your diode onto....
two of these hosts even come in gift boxes too! lol
Hopefully it goes smoothly....
....gonna be hard to come up with the money to get them started though. flex drives are so damned expensive.
 
Hey Mohrenberg, can I ask you how you designed the tail cap for it to allow the use of the rear clicky? I'm trying to design a host and that's the part that is confusing me, I've got an idea but maybe you can guide me or just give me a tip :)
 
the machinist made it so the inside of the tail cap has a slightly larger diameter toward the base so that the tabs on the side of the switch sit inside it.

This design is a little flaws since if it's not perfect it can be problematic.
I think simply drilling a hole the same size as a switch and press fitting it into the tail cap would work ALOT better....here is a little picture

either way, i've lost LOTS of money on this.....so i'm calling it quits and scrapping the custom host project.

Got my hosts the other day, I think they are very nice, very solid. How are you setting up the aixis and driver to run in these?
Also I have a green olike 100mw module that should be here any day, I was wondering if it could run on the 3.6v juice you supplied or if i would have to use the 3.0v cr2 that came with my dilda.

i've been told you should use 3v cr2 with the module and NOT 3.6v, because you risk killing your module with the 3.6v batteries.
 
when building the blu-ray (assuming your using phr diode) you use a rkcstr driver, and you bend the case pin down and solder it with the negative.

This will make your module case negative.

Then you have your pos. wire fed out the end of the aixiz module, where you put the contact point for the positive side of the battery.

I usually just put some 5 min epoxy on the end of the module, once it hardens i strip the wire thats coming out of the end of the module, wind it up into a circular pad and put a drop of solder on it.

Then you just slide the module into the host and screw it down and your done.
 
Got my olike 100mw green installed. I did have to ream out this host quite a bit to fit the module but I got it!

The other host I have is also a little tight even on an aixis module. Did these get drilled out while hot? maybe they cooled and shrunk?
The click switch on the green is also a little finicky, you kind of have to let the button click out (on) at its own speed. Like take your thumb off before the button reaches its outter most position.
I like the host though, cant beat it for the price! I even like the cooling grooves cut down shorter like they are, its like what folks in the 80's would have been using if they had high powered laser pointers! Its got that sci-fi look to it!

i got your pm on the switch/tailcap problem.
I'm going to play around with them and see if i can find a good solution, then i'll mail you two new tailcaps with new switches.

what type of batts will power the rkcstr driver and phr in this host? by the way i think i will be getting another one of these hosts from you. can you send me an invoice?
