Hey your saying they wanted $140.00 JUST for a barrel? (not a completed laser).

You bet. Now that you have the barrel in hand and have an idea of the quality of the build, you can see why someone wouldn't let one go for less than $140.

Don't get me wrong, the Barrel & Laser build is really nice, But if I thought people would really pay $140.00 each just for an empty barrel, and they would really sell........I'd have 1,000 barrels CNC'd in a heartbeat and laugh all the way to the bank.

Come on it IS a very nice design, clean and simple; that's the beauty of it, but $140.00 for an empty host?

The first problem with that thought is that there is a significant difference between what one COULD do and what one DOES do.  Why isn't the market flooded with hosts like this?  It takes money, time, and energy.  People THINK about doing something, but rarely DO anything.

The second problem with that thought is , once again, "supply vs. demand."  If you did flood the market with 1000 hosts such as these then they most surely would NOT be worth $140.   After you flooded the market with them, they would no longer be rare.  They would be " a dime a dozen."

Remember, diamonds aren't rare . . . . . They are just marketed effectively

Absolutely agree Dave, I was just yanking his chain because of the crazy price for an empty host.

It's-all-good.

Cheers

I still have one of these hosts to make into a complete red 300mw or 150mw bluray.  6 month warranty.  Shipped inside the US.  As electron can attest with all of my lasers I throw in plenty of little goodies as well.  glow in the dark strips, diffraction material TEC's and other assorted goodies.
$200.

HEY!! Most of my laser types are in "matched sets." -- matched MXDL's -- matched Krytons -- matched Leadlights -- matched HeNe's

Right now I'm working on a matched set of spirographs. My 405nm is almost done. I haven't decided if it's partner will be red or green. Maybe I'll need a triad with the spiro's ;)

Peace,
dave
