Up for sale today (to help pay anodizing costs) is a Kryton Groove bluray set to 150mw.  Has a flexdrive and runs off 1 18650.  The Kryton also comes with all included bits and bobs (inserts, aperture caps, and clicky covers.)  as well as a 6 month warranty(no modifications allowed or warranty is void other than changing caps, and such)  Asking price is $200 OBO (shipped to anywhere in the U.S. & $10 extra for international)

I would not be selling this here if it weren't for my need to raise funds to pay the anodizer.

Smoke was used for beamshots.

I'm going to stress that the price includes a warranty that covers the replacement of any components that die as a result of normal usage.  If you drop it, or crank up the current, it's not covered under this warranty.  As seen by Daguin's builds higher powers are capable from the 803T diodes.  So if you want more power you can probably get it from this, although it's not covered under warranty then.

Re: FS: Kryton Groove (bare) 150mw Bluray

What a steal of a deal! :o There's over $110 dollars in parts alone. Correction: That's if you bought the parts separate. The Kryton is $50, plus $5 bucks shipping, plus the FlexDrive upgrade of $15. That's $70, I paid $30 bucks for my 803T sleds. (I know that you can get them cheaper now) Battery included?

Someone's going to get a great deal on an awesome blu-ray build...

Plus, it's a total Kenom Build in one of his Kryton barrels.

I have mine . . . . .

I might be able to include a battery and a charger for $15 extra. I only have the chargers and batteries for the GB, so I'd have to end up buying more to replace them if I get rid of them.... Considering that the charger is $15 alone, this is a pretty doggone good deal.

I love putting together these packages. You find all these little goodies you can throw in there and make the buyer think it's christmas. Electron purchased this but I can easily put together the remaining 2 barrels (bare) that I have sitting here in the exact same package.

Re: FS: Kryton Groove (bare) 150mw Bluray *sold*

Hello everyone I received the Kryton Laser today and I got to say this is one nice Laser even in a bare barrel.  It was shipped very quickly and arrived extremely well packaged. I was of-course very excited to get my first BluRay and opened the package up like it was Xmas time, when I got into the package guess what? It was Xmas time!, because included in the package I received from Kenom was lots of goodies that I wasn't expecting.  8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

This is also my first non-commercial built Laser I purchased, and also my first deal with Kenom, and I got to tell everyone he put a smile on my face today.....in-fact I'm still smiling. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Here's a power graph off of my new Coherent LabMax Meter;

Re: FS: Kryton Groove (bare) 150mw Bluray *sold*

Boy ya gotta admit that's one nice stable graph.  I see a total of 600 data points.  What interval were those at??? 1/sec? did that read at almost EXACTLY 150mw?

Re: FS: Kryton Groove (bare) 150mw Bluray *sold*

Naa sorry, it didn't read exactly 150mw's, it's actually 155mw's  :D :D

From the graph it's probably hard to see that, but the digital meter showed 155mw almost flat across the board.
It's just that my meter has a very accurate and high resolution to it,  the raw data it recorded and I dumped into a spreadsheet also proves out it's 155mw's.

Samples taken are 10 samples every second for a total of 600 samples, ie; 1 minute.

Those tiny little dips or two you see are actually nothing, because I have the meter set to 4 decimal places; If I set it to 5 decimal places, those dips would look even bigger, whereas if I set it to 1 or 2 decimal places you wouldn't even see any dips at all, the Laser is actually VERY stable, almost completely flat.......so the dips on that graph represent  this;

155.0005, 155.0001, 155.0005  I think that should help explain it.

It ROCKS!!

Re: FS: Kryton Groove (bare) 150mw Bluray *sold*

Well, even if those dips were a drop in a mw or 2 I'd still have been very happy with the laser. It's nice to see that the Kryton laser barrel provides such a nice host that it keeps the laser stable for a good amount of time. I'd venture to say that it would remain stable over a 5 minute period of time, not just 1.

I do have 2 more of these bare hosts to sell as complete lasers. Just PM if interested and we'll work out a deal. I can make as well, a 300mw red with glass optics or a 150mw bluray...

:'( Wants a Kryton Groove barrel

Kenom i got the smooth barrel today. i just have a question. Since the Laser only takes the Cr123 batt i guess using a Rkcstr driver is out of the question? so my next option would be to use a DrLava MicroDriver?
Are those battery you use in the build 18650 battery same size as the cr123? or 2xlength?

CR123's are 16x34mm, so two would be 16x68mm

When the battery is "labeled" by these types of numbers (18650) the numbers tell you the dimensions of the battery.  An 18650 is 18x65mm

Two CR123's = 16x68mm
18650 = 18x65mm

Peace,
dave

Re: FS: Kryton Groove (bare) 150mw Bluray *sold*

The grooves work with 18650's however, the bare does not. The inside diameter is not large enough. Now if you know someone with a lathe you can have them cut the inside out a little larger and make it work for an 18650 but they weren't designed to. Another option is to go with a groove driver as it was designed to work off a pair of cr123's. Even rechargables! Both lava and I are selling those. He's got a listing here in the B/s/t section here somewhere. Mine I sell for $5 shipping is of course extra but is only like $2 international (first class)

Re: FS: Kryton Groove (bare) 150mw Bluray *sold*

So the answer would be 'No' Rkcstr driver wont work cause the batts that fit in them wont be strong enough.
So either the Grrove driver or Micro Driver.
Is the Groove, the updated version like DL driver or the old BF type?

what are you going to drive and at what current? the groove is like a rkcstr except bigger and has lower dropout voltage.
