Dave, I'll take one of the modules. I have a WL core that I want to butcher. I'll send you a PM. Thanks,     Bill

Save the driver board with the switch. You're going to want it to build the blu-ray into it. Don't loose the button (I have lost more than one of those little things)

Peace,
dave

And then there were 3

If someone defaults, I'll take 2 more!

Two of the reserved modules are violet. I'm holding them until the first of the month (Sunday). The module L@s3r has reserved is one of the red modules.

JUST to be 1000% sure, for the violet, use 2 batteries, and jump the third slot in the adapter with your recomended host right???

Yes.

The module needs a minimum of 7.5V (5V for the diode and 2.5V for the driver) However, the driver can only take up to 12V. The final bit of information is about the batteries. The 10440 is a 3.7V cell. HOWEVER, when it is fully charged it will actually be putting out 4.2V.

2 x 4.2V = 8.4V This is perfect for the module

3 x 4.2V = 12.6V This will burn out the driver.

When the voltage begins to sag below 7.5V (from using the laser), the laser will begin to "dim" You won't "see" a difference, but it will produce less energy so it won't burn stuff as easily. If you notice that the laser doesn't seem as "powerful" (not bright) as before, recharge the batteries.

Peace,
dave

[quote author=Arenared link=1232735823/20#37 date=1233044544]PM sent - also what host would you recommend for the violet modules?
Which host to use is VERY dependent on your skillz.  For those making their first build, I would recommend using this host
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3405~r.82876835
With a Jayrob heat sink
http://www.laserpointerforums.com/forums/YaBB.pl?num=1202452073
You will also need two 10440 batteries and a charger
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4151~r.82876835
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.974~r.82876835
This build gives you the most room and the ability to have a working hand held by combining the above components and only making two solder joints in wire.
The other option for a new builder would be to build it in a project box.  However, I think most of us are here for a good feeling hand held laser

A potential issue has become apparent in another thread. I wanted to leave notice here in case someone isn't following the other thread

**IF** you order the version #2 of the Jayrob heat sink, there may not be enough length left inside the host for the module and you will have to do a bit of filing/grinding/drilling on the original driver holder. I have not tested this yet, but the version 2 heat sink is "flat" while the version 1 protrudes ( I think aesthetically) from the front a bit. This small protrusion adds a bit of length to the host so the module fits. If you are following this thread and building this laser, I am recommending (for now at least) that you choose the version#1 of the heat sink from Jayrob.

Peace,
dave
