FS: 405-G-1 Glass Lens Mod - 31% Increase vs AixiZ!

What laser are you putting the lens into?

The lenses fit fine into an AixiZ module with a little Teflon tape...

The Arctic.

I really can get a good beam profile with the new unit You sent. If I adjust the focus while the Laser is pointing at the ceiling I can tease the lens into a very nice beam. Keeping it from drifting is becoming a problem, and I don't want to use anything that would be hard to remove later. btw the original lens module did the same thing, so that it really is the thread job on the host. The teflon helps some, but I get the best profile without the tape.

The original lens had the same problem you say!

Man, sounds like the Arctic you have there has a bad module or something...

But a thicker wrap of Teflon should solve your problem if I am understanding properly...

Yea the original had the same fit, and Your knurled ring fits the stock module perfect. That leaves the host as the root cause of My focus problems. Adding more Teflon does tightens things up, but I get the best spot with the module slightly off-center:scowl:

Your mean if the lens is off center, it gives a better output?

That means that the diode is not pressed into the module straight. (probably)

Anyway, the knurled 'Custom Focus Knob' is threaded deeper and fit specifically for an AixiZ lens. So it will not work with a 405-G-1 unless you just thread it only half way onto the lens, and use some medium strength thread lock to position it...

Yea it has to sit slightly off-center for the best spot, but it is not more a mm or so. If the Threads were tight I would not be able to get the best output. The diode is really far down into the host. Your module sits a 1/4" or so below the front face. The wife has Our camera in Boston otherwise I wold grab a picture for You. I will try the Thread Lock not sure what strength I have here at the house, but I know it's not permanent. Over-all I am pleased with the 405-G-1 it does make quite a difference in output.

Well I hope it works out...

One thing, I think just to clarify, when you say 'my module', I believe you are talking about the lens nut correct?

Just though I would mention that to avoid confusion. Because the module is what holds the laser diode, as well as the lens...

Yep It's Your Lens assembly. Once I lock the assembly in place I will have a better beam than what I have so far seen in pictures. the tricky part will be applying the loc-tight without changing the focus. Once I get it right I'll have to leave the laser on to lock it, because if I pick it up to shut it off I lose what I worked so hard to achieve.

I currently have an Aixiz 405 glass lens with AR coating. How much of an improvement is the 405-G-2 lens over this?

Do you know where I can go to get this lens? I have tried to email a guy on this thread about getting two of them but I am not sure if he got my request.

I have the 405-G-1 lens assemblies fit for AixiZ...

Just send me a private message for PayPal...

I know that this is a little out of sorts but is there any reason to switch out my A130 diode for the A140? I just got the darn thing and now I am reading threads on this new diode.

I have a couple of each...

Nothing wrong with A-130. It's mostly the same. It's even possible to get a better diode with an A-130 if you have a high efficiency one vs a low efficiency A-140...

Thanks. Thats good to know. I am running the A130 at 1000mW. What is the life expectancy of the LD if I run it with a good size heatsink?

Honestly, the verdict is still out on longevity...

But they seem like really tough diodes. I'm guessing 1 Amp is a good setting...
