Are Still Taking Orders?

Hello IgorT, could you PM me? I would like to place an order. :thanks:

Edit: Thanks for the emails Igor :)

I'm back!!!

Ok, i came here wanting to say a few words, and got lost, barelly figured out how to find my own thread. Wow, what a change. :o

I just wanted to say, that i'm officially back, that my old gmail account has been reactivated and cleaned up (mostly - if someone didn't get a reply just write again to get your email to the top), and i will try to answer all PMs ASAP.... But it is WAY easier to get me through g-mail, so i need to set up that PM-email forwarding thingy...

Ok, at this point, all the paid-for stuff is in the buyer's hands, (except in two(?) cases, where it's still en-route (waiting for the happy news)). Everyone from Batch #2, who paid and then had to wait is being compensated big time (or already was in the first package). If there is someone who still thinks there is ANY kind of problem, please email me. Most of the previously waiting people seem happy right now, and i want to make sure no-one is left out or anything (some mistake or whatnot) like i said in my last post, i want to make sure EVERYONE is 100% happy in the end...

So, i was away for a long time. Jesus, the forum change shows it well enough....

Please understand, that when all hell broke loose, the lasers were not the only work, that got halted. My real work did too. And a lot of it piled up, when i was struggling not to loose my company (and more).

It's been a long time ago (the very first batch i ever made (PHRs)), that i realized, i can't get any work done, if i am online posting on the forum, chatting on different IM's, and answering all emails in 5 page style. I had to go offline for two weeks to finish batch #1 (the #1).

I've been doing it the same way (going offline to finish the job) ever since. Only that it was never a problem before.... But of course, there was never this much work to take care of before!

I mean, after i finished the waiting lasers, i worked three weeks 24/7 straight (no sleep except occasional passing out - do not try this at home kids, the stunt was performed by a professional and even he got hurt!), just to get the real work out of the way. Unfortunatelly, the non-sleeping part had consequences, that immobilized me for the last week and a half. I wanted to come back here sooner, but i thought it would be better to regain full consciousnes first.. :D

So, where was i. Oh, way past the few words i wanted to say... (Where did all the freaking smileys go?!?)

Anyway, i'm rebuilding things on my real work side and this side here. Progress has been good (i think..... If someone disagrees email me ASAP!!).

The next step is fulfilling the various favors i promissed over time. I'll post instructions on what to do, to get what i promissed you (just an email with a specific subject, and details).

And of course the growing Batch #3... Wow, i was surprised, when people started ordering. But i also have a surprise for everyone, who wants a laser.....

I won't post it just yet (partially cos i don't know how. :D), but let's just say, that i have evolved my laser to the point, where there is nothing left to be improoved. It's as good as it gets..... How, you wonder?

I had the v3 All-In-One Heatsink/Modules MADE!!! And man are they pretty! I fell in love the moment i held them for the first time. My babies!
I designed them and gave manufacturing a GO a LONG time ago. But then all the problems disabled me from actually PAYING for them! (i had MANY made) :(

And then, suddenly i got an order. An order from someone from the same country as me! An order from someone, who unlike everyone else, could pay me with REAL (= not PayPal) money!!! (PP don't work here, they don't take PP in Celje or the rest of Slovenia for that matter, nor can the money be taken out.. It's kinda sad, the more lasers i sell, the less real money i have). This helped me pay for the v3's which were waiting in the machine shop till now, and now i have them.

To show my gratitude, i sent this buyer my personal 6x with the medium custom lens, at 260mW, for some testing/reviewing the lens, before he gets his batch #3 laser. Now guys... (from batch #3) Please understand, he lives in the same country, the country is SMALL and he'll get it the very next day after i post it. So please no jealousy here. He is afterall THE ONE, who made it possible, that you get yours with v3's as well!

I'll show the beauties, and explain them as soon as i figure out this new forum.. :D
I mean, i knew they would be perfect, when i drew the plans.. I knew how everything would work, where heat would flow and all, but it's one thing to have it in your head and paper, and quite another, to HOLD it in your HAND and see it with your own eyes in the flesh (or should i say pure aluminum)... It was a good day when they arrived! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face with a sledge-hammer (if i were so inclined - which i am not, no funny thoughts please..).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, on to old stuff....

WizardKing, did you get my emails?!? I am hoping to get a reply soon.

Just in case you did not get my email:
------------------------------------
You will get your laser(s) just like everyone else from (the cursed part of) batch #2 did - the packages are popping up almost every other day! But there was a small problem.... In order to finish faster (and get them to you faster), i only pre-tested enough diodes, to find enough freaks to build the precise number of lasers i had to - AND fix one (your old one - the one with a dead diode which was sold to us as a 6x, but was really a 4x and we got screwed, the poor thing couldn't take the power). I did not however pre-test enough to find some spares in case something goes wrong.

And it did. After finishing Travellers laser, i discovered his diode window got dislodged somehow (i have no idea how, i never had this problem with PHRs, and man, it was SUCH A GOOD 6x!!!! :( )... I had to rebuild his laser from scratch and so i was one freak diode short. And i promissed you (and everyone) a freak, both for the batch #2 laser AND the repair of the "fake 6x diode" laser, since you had to wait..

So then i had to go on, pre-testing more diodes (and believe me, it takes time... a lot, for every single one of them!), while i was already working on my piling-up real work. Hence the delay..... But you'll get them, and you will also get the bonus laser, like everyone else from Batch #2, who had to wait.....

I may have made a mistake by not shipping your batch #2 laser separatelly first, as soon as it was done, and the diode replacement laser later, but i thought it would all go faster.... But man, do these 6x's VARY in efficiency (and wavelength)...

Good thing i pre-test all diodes on my Diode Analyzer BEFORE installing them anywhere. That way i know EVERYTHING about a diode before putting it anywhere, and can fulfill special requests (or make up for a screwup)... If i just used the next diode in a row, you could have gotten one that peaks at 160mW at 200mA!!!! That's how low some go! And with Murphy's law, it would probably have low wavelength on top.. (All the data i gathered :o will be very interesting to study - when i'm done with pre-testing the last of them i'll have complete PIV data for over 60 6x's!)

Oh wow, i wanted to post a few words.. :D

I should realy go to sleep now.

P.S. I somehow broke two diode windows so far. One on a normal and one on a freak. I don't see how, cos this never happened to me with PHR's, but it did now. But it's not all that bad, because they are not dead, and now they will be much easier to sacrifice to my Diode Torture Chamber v3!

I wanted to race three diodes against each other by cycling them one minute ON one minute OFF (to increase the strain) the diodes all set to the same power, but from different efficiency categories - a freak, a normal and a weakling..... (they would obviously need very different currents to reach that same power!) So the diodes were supposed to blast against a photo-transistor, triggering a counter, after dying, the counter stops counting, and i have the exact number of minutes the diodes survived on the counters, translate that into hours, and then years (with average use)......

At least that was the plan, before my life was rudelly interrupted by one person, which i would like to... Hmm, better to go to sleep...

Anyway, i hope i can soon finish the new torture chamber, and put the broken window diodes to good use, very good use in fact, to provide us with proper scientific data. Of course to avoid the broken window influencing the results (like by letting air in - not good for the die i heard), i put the diodes into an inert atmosphere for storage till the time comes. (There are some benefits of having an electronics R&D company...... ;) )

P.P.S. I have not been ignoring posts in this thread - i have been completelly away, offline, working my ass off, to solve all the problems! So posts of any kind did not get to me. I'm sorry. I had so much work i even had to read emails selectivelly for a little while! (using search for a specific subject). But i'm back now officially, and i'll start replying (and soon posting research hopefully) from now on.... But any complicated stuff or problems should go to gmail directly....

P.P.P.S. Jesus, i wanted to go to bed two hours ago, and now i'm still here typing.
OH! I made a drawing, that will explain everything about how lenses work, their NA, their FL, (and the crap called splatter with some of them - i just figured out where it comes from yesterday! Who would think the v1 custom lenses (= disaster lenses = $$$$ lost) would reveal it! ).... The drawing should explain the lenses effect on the beam profile. The shape and size of the spot. The fact, that the beam doesn't get thinner but flatter with shorter FL's higher NA's.... And why the "splatter" is so huge with shortest FL's.. I need to do some work on the drawing, but i think it will really explain everything.... :)

Ok, good night everyone....

Thank you Eku, whoever you are.. :D
What... Did you think i was gone for good? That i would drown?

Well, i made it through. I might be broke, but i'm alive, i still have my company, i still have my health (well, getting there), i'm not in jail for not being able to afford a 200.000,00€ fine. I do have to start almost from scratch on both ends, but with so many friends and so much support i got from multiple people in the hardest of times (guys, i owe you, you know who you are).. I made it through. And i'm back.. There you go....

EDIT: Woohooo.. Now that i look at it (my first post on this strange new forum).. So much for a few words, eh?
And then you wonder, why i have to go offline to finish work... :D

GOD (or anyone) Where are the freaking smileys?!?! It was so much easier before...

The short focal lengths should make the beam flatter and narrower, just that it will be getting flatter much faster than it gets narrower, because the fast axis divergence is... well.. fast. If you were to collimate it right at the facet, the ratio between the fast and slow directions of the emitter (initial size) would be 100:1, which is why the professional modules correct for astigmatism.

Unfortunately, having briefly looked into it, it would appear that you're looking at $60 or more worth of stock lenses to get a thin, round beam with a "perfect" wavefront and all the emitted light intact. Add the price of a lens nut and $40 if you want to focus it well, too. Less in a GB, but not so much less that it's likely to sell. Double or triple the price to get a radial beam.

Can't think of many BR units that would be better suited for it, though.

Click the little white smiley face above the area where you type the post. If you just get a small list, scroll down the list and click "Show More Smilies".

If you click "Go Advanced" it will even give you more options.

Welcome back IgorT, read enough reviews about your builds to know you are a master. Welcome home.

Hooray IgorT is back! I got here after you left but, with you coming back it brought me great luck. I'm getting LPC sleds and turning them into high power pointers now. Thanks for the good luck! ;-)

The last post confuses me a little. But if i brought you luck in any way, i am glad, even if slightly lost?

I still can't find the smileys, and i'm in advanced mode, unless it's the ones below. Let's see if this works. (and to think i used to be a computer wizard)...

Nope, it only gives a smiley to the Title.. :(
There is no smiley icon above the text window....

At least i can see where attachments are provided.. That's something.. What i would love to know is HOW to bold, italic and underline the text. I mean, it was so much easier in the good old times.......

k1kb0t: Thanks for the welcome, much appreciated.. :)

Jimmymcjimthejim: Again, thanks, but no, everything is not yet magically back in order, there is so much work ahead of me, that i would almost rather hide somewhere in a cave and meditate instead, till my shadow made a permanent impression on the cave wall.

suiraM: You evil genious you. ;) Yes, you explained it nicelly, but most people don't necessarily know what (slow/fast)-axis means and might confuse it with an AixiZ module..
I think i know what type of lenses you are talking about... But they require axial alignment to do the beam circulisation. (I can get the lenses you talk about, but I got quotes for regular lenses from that manufacturer and they made me sick to the stomach. Then i got quotes for the same exact lenses from another manufacturer, and i was happy.) BTW, I fear that no short FL lens (regardless of any corrections and whatnots) could ever get rid of the eye hurting crap called "splatter".... Especially now that i know what it is and where it comes from....

But this is not the right thread to go into the details, let's keep things clean. I'm thinking of organising a test-buy of my best custom lens...

Everyone: Wait for the drawing, i'm sure it'll make you understand what lenses do to the beam/spot and why it primarily becomes flatter and not as much thinner with the shortest FL / highest NA lenses, as well as why the crap "appears" and becomes huge. I'm talking about lenses, like my latest short FL custom lens (the one that got increases from 27 to 43%) or the lenses popping up on the forum (my short FL/high NA custom lens is nearly identical in specs and results, but strangelly lower priced even one by one)...

I will ask one question (but not here). We all want MORE POWER!!!!! (crazy smiley needed here), but do we want it even at the cost of the beam and spot becoming FUBAR? I want aesthetically pleasing results, even if i get a few mW less. That's why my personal 6x (which in a matter of hours or minutes will be in the hands of the third Slovenian forum member) has been wearing the medium lens all the time, except during testing. I just couldn't live with that projection (what an euphemism :o) appearing on the side... Anyway, that's why i think a test buy would be a good idea, but damn it, wrong thread!

Jesus, i need serious help figuring this new forum out. Well the only nice thing it did, it made me younger. I am now officially 19. :p

Well, technically you didn't bring me good luck, but the timing seemed to. Just after you posted, I was able to take a red diode from the LPC sled up to 470ma with my diy DDL driver. I used a 0.12 ohm 1W resistor in series with a 100 ohm trimpot to dial in any current that I want and it seems to be working at a reasonable temp. I'm using 2 cr123 in series for 6V. So I will give you the credit anyway. ;-)

Igor all the text boxes have smiles, bold, text size, ect. If you are not seeing them it might be on your end, I'd PM Avery (C0ld) to help you work it out. As far as I know you are the only one with that issue.

Once you get used to the new forum you will find its quite useful. Plus it has a ton more options than the old forum.

Hey Igor,

welcome back

What you're missing is the fact that you need to go into your User CP, and change the editor settings to "wysiwyg". I think it's under the "Options" section...

You will also need to check "save sent PMs" (if you want to save a copy, that is) and you will have to be careful to note the difference between "PMs" and the new "VMs" (Visitor Messages) the latter which gets tacked on to your profile for all to read.

You can also decide what parts of your profile are visible to the public and which parts are only visible to your contacts. Finally, you need to check a box if you want to be notified of new PMs via email...

That should get you started ;)

p.s. Have a look at a few of these threads for more vBulletin / forum info

Thank you, my friend, and cheers, but i don't drink.. Hope that's not a problem or a sin even... O:)

Finally something that makes some sense! The computer wiz days paid off, i know what wysiwyg means.. :D I NEED that setting!!! I'll get right on it!

Great, thanks for all the info! And yes, i noticed the visitor messages are separate immediatelly after first log-in.

Useful settings. Maybe i'll get used to this new forum even if i'm getting old (19!?!? OMG!).

That should get you started ;)

Indeed, Traveller, once again you've been of a lot of help. Thanks!

I'll get right on it.
