I got my Jayrob 3D build last week and have been loving it! Having taken apart the sparkler to rehabilitate it, I have a better appreciation for the quality in Jay's work. From being able to disassemble the heatsink from the host without a hammer and chisel to not having to watch out for shock & short hazards from twist-tied wiring, to having a battery spacer that allows me to change out batteries just as easily as I could in the original host (without having to get out my duct tape and weather stripping, as was the case with the sparkler), its easy to tell who knows what they're doing and who the hack is. I mean, Jay actually uses solder and shrink wrap for his connections! What a concept! I'm still pretty ticked that I let that weasel, Sparky, take my money, but I learned quite a bit rebuilding his disaster laser.
JayRob, thanks for living up to your reputation and making me one mutha of a build.
I'm new to this community and could have easily been turned off by my experience with sparky, but my interactions and dealings with folks like JayRob, Dave, FlaminPyro, and bhwollen showed me that there are plenty of guys here who have integrity, are dedicated to advancing others' interest in this hobby, and can make some great stuff. Thanks guys!
