I'm cleaning out the closet.  Offered for sale here are five Helium/Neon lasers with PSU's.  Four are red (632.8nm) and one is green (543.5nm)

Here are the reds.  They are being offered at $40 each, shipped in the US

**SOLD** HeNe1 -- This one requires a 24VDC power source.  The PSU puts out 2100VDC @ 5.5mA.  The laser is putting out 6.5mW

**SOLD** HeNe2 -- This one requires a 24VDC power source.  The PSU puts out 2300VDC @ 6mA.  The laser puts out 6.5mW

HeNe3 -- This one requires a 12VDC power source.  The PSU puts out 1250VDC @ 4mA.  The laser is putting out 3mW

**SOLD** HeNe4 -- This one requires a 12VDC power source.  The PSU puts out 1400VDC @ 4mA.  The laser puts out 2mW.  This one is a bare tube with 6 inches of plasma exposed

**SOLD** GrHeNe -- Green HeNe.  This one requires a 12VDC power source.  The PSU puts out 2700VDC @ 5mA.  The laser puts out 1.5mW.  This one is an old soldier.  It requires a minute to warm up to start lasing.  Also, after it warms up for several minutes, it gives a classic example of TEM01*  The PSU needs more current than my 12VDC power source gives it.  It wants 3A.  My power source only gives 2A.  I do not know if the TEM mode would be affected by the lower current.  This green HeNe is being offered at $75 Shipped in the US

The center of the spot here is actually dark.  The darker green shown here is an artifact of the camera

As always, realistic offers and interesting trades will be considered.

Peace,
dave

Why get these huge things when LD's are more powerful and cheaper?

HeNe's have better beam specs (i think). ;) Also they always look so cool when there running. 8-)
Man, that green HeNe is amazing! I am surprised nobody wants it.

Helium Neon lasers have different wavelenths than diode/dpss lasers and have better beam quality

For the same reason I/we have argon, cadmium, copper, etc. lasers. It is a hobby. All of the different types of lasers have different characteristics. To really learn about them, you must experience them.

If all you are looking for is the cheapest way to light a match, you can do that by striking it against the side of the box. Maybe the hobby isn't for you ;)

dave

Re: FS:  Assorted HeNe's

I want #4 the melles griot simply because it looks cool while it's lasing.
Pm sent!

You do mean milliamps, yes? I haven't seen a HeNe that consumes 8KW+ of power in quite a while.

The older tubes that are still working are becoming collectors items... :)

I want the greenie but I bought too many toys to be able to buy it before someone else ;D

I'm not sure what you are saying here. The current is in AMPS. The voltage is in KILOVOLTS

For example, HeNe1 uses 21KVDC @ 5.5 Amps

Or have I misunderstood your statement or did I leave a typo in the text that I cannot "see" ?

Peace,
dave

The output from the psu should be in milliamps. I have a MOT(microwave oven transformer) that puts out 1KV @ 1amp which is absolutely lethal and fries anything you hook it up to. If you're referring to the input current that the psu draws then it still doesn't make sense. The entire setup for a 6mw HENE laser isn't likely to use 60Watts of power.

Did you ever look at something, more than once, and still not "see" it?

You are absolutely correct. "mA" NOT "A"

Unfreakinbelievable!

Thanks for trying more than once.

My brain just kept short circuiting into amps

Imma get a new one. This brain is NOT cooperating well

Peace,
dave

Gas lasers are in a different class. HeNe, ArIon, CO2 etc .... New ways to enjoy the hobby. Look at them and learn.
When I started in lasers 30 years ago -- gas was all there was --- LED's were the new thing.

Girpy & Coherent,

Your lasers are on their way. The tracking info is available via PayPal. Give it a few hours to get scanned into the system, though.

hey daguin, i haven't been on in forever!! and if anyone is wondering; his products are very high quality; the blu-ray+red laser set i got from him are sill running at 100%. "i got them awhile ago"

Re: FS:  Assorted HeNe's

I can't believe the green HENE is still up for sale. Usually they go for hundreds of dollars on ebay.
