eBay in the US consider any hand held laser over 5mW a "hazardous" object. This is related to the FDA's listing these lasers as "hazardous." They cannot be sold. Now if you were in the UK, no problem.

The funny thing with that, they will not bring up the FDA, but rather the transport of such goods. When you search the links they give you after removing a laser (ive had many) you will find nothing on the subject :-?

* This applies to anything portable :( Even if it takes two hands to hold it ;)

hmm, thats kinda sucks... hopefully someone on here buys it, my friend would take a trade on a second gen itouch or would take payments. I had to argue to get him to go for the payments thing :P he was going to use the money to buy an Itouch second gen anyways lol

Ahahaha, good one. Whats the shipping on a bad boy like that? I bet if you put that on ebay as a 60lb pointer, they would still get upset and pull it.  :)

What is that BTW?

It used to be a Helium / Copper laser, but the tube was destroyed in shipping.  Now it is just a really cool looking aluminum tube.  It amazes me that people don't grasp that a hand blown glass tube bouncing around inside metal could be a problem.  I just finished recycling a Helium / Cadmium laser with the same problem.

dave

I have no idea. I never got to do any work with it. It was broken being shipped to me. The person shipping it obviously had no idea what he was doing with it. He wrapped it in bubble wrap and put it in a cardboard tube with "flexible" ends. :'(

Peace,
dave

Well, since he refunded my money, I don't think this was the case (same with the He-Cd).  Of course, the new PayPal dispute system helps with such problems as well.  No it's not perfect and some have had problems, but it used to be that if you didn't pay with a credit card, you were screwed.  Now at least there is a fairly consistent challenge forum.

Peace,
dave

P.S.  This has been a total thread jack. Sorry Maxkillz

Re: Friends Barely Used Alpha 105, 119mW average

I've indicated that I want the thing but just don't have $$$ right now. I am working on selling a few Krytons but I wouldn't hold your breath that it will be soon.

Most of those Cu vapor lasers are easily in the 'watt' range.
