FREE DIY open source BOOST driver!!! Tested & working!!

I would like to add that when paralleling drivers, they won't be seeing the same input current as well. You need to add same value ballast resistors before each driver to make sure the drivers get the current distributed equally. Some low value resistors (like 2mOhm) would do the trick.

Dorkbox didnt charge me much for shipping. My order of 27 of each round and ovp was 32.79$ And really it didnt take long to get them maybe becuse I got in at the end of a pannel and just filled it up.

Tsteele do you have any mofset's you want to sell Digi is out of them and newark doesnt stock them either. I'm down to 2!

Which mosfets do you need?

Hey rhd, just email the guy from Dorkbot, I've been in contact with him, and he has been very helpful. Now I'm just waiting on my custom Ben Boost boards :D

On the pot subject, in my opinion, they are not needed. I like the simplicity of having fixed current that way you don't need to run them on a test load to set them. Also, I have broken a lot of pots on flex drives. They really suck.

Kent,

EDIT: Isn't this the original part?

Would these work? They are expensive but maybe as a temporary solution until the others come back in stock?

They may NOT work though, I'm not sure about the -20V thing...

Ben or RHD might have a substitute.

I have a few if you are in a bind. I don't want to dump all of them though. :)

Yes I would be very interested in a board for the ophir. I really want to get it boxed up and protected.

Well, my noobishness has delayed that front a bit. I reflowed two boards. They're the new fork that basically took a previous through-hold board, and turned it into and SMD one. But then it blew up today during testing. Of course, what I totally spaced on, was the fact that tantalum caps totally F-up logic by flipping the polarity indications. The stripe is (+) instead of (-) like it is on practically every other F-ing cap.

It sucked arse, because the parts to populate each board cost about $20 each. (Two regs that are $3.50 each, a $4 Op Amp, a few transistors, and some pricey caps).

RHD, I would be happy to order PCB's on Dorkbot (OSH Park) and send them to you using cheap 1st class mail. I think it only costs me $3 for first class to Canada.

It is odd that it would be cheaper that way, but OSH Park is free shipping to US, so the only expense would be for me to ship to you - so I could ship for $3.

I maybe misrepresented the issue a bit. Dorkbot does indeed have a cheap $5 (I think) shipping to Canada. But it's basically untrackable, and I had two Dorkbot orders not show up when I used the $5 option. So since then, I've always used the $15 option.

To clarify further, I mentioned the issue to Laen, and his solution was to pay shipping 3x times, and then he would refund me 2x of them after I placed the order. That's a fair solution. It's a solution that I don't mind when I have funds in my Paypal account. But when I don't, that means charging my CC, and then having to have a refund put back onto it. I just don't like doing stuff like that if I can avoid it.

I have a few bugered up boards I can probably take them off of Unless there is a replacement I can use. I also have boards with the 10uf caps that I could fix up so I should be ok.

Owch RHD that hurts.. I have parts on the way for 2 of the DIY buck/boosts. Looks alot harder to place components/paste and there expensive drivers but I want to try to do it Dont want to waste this solder paste!!! Would have to be on a non shaky day... lol Sold my mits110 tonight. Recouped a bit allmost what it cost and I got rid of the 14500 trustfires and a trustfire charger with it. It went for 150$ So Jordan still better have a pl450B in a short copper for me! lol Think I need a new mits110 too.

Really! I thaught Jeff made them... I grabbed an aluminum model too was going to extend them and use the switches for the most common loads.. but now that we are paralelling the drivers maybe I could read the current with multiple test loads in parallel too.. lmao I dont know if that would work or not and now that I can get the dang thing working for the 445's proper I dont think I need the extra diodes also these diode are .9V drop not .75 so that makes a difference to the common test loads out there without heatsinking. I can get the copper hot on it with a 1050ma after about 10 mins..

Also I must thank RHD for the PowerlightB50 and heatsinks

He does make them. You bought that from Diggy, right? I was going to buy it but someone else bought it before I was able to get on and pay for it. That person was YOU! Damn you!

;)

I'm totally kidding around with you. I think that I even posted an Et Tu Kizdawg in the buy/sell thread.

The head on the 034 fits on the 032

Yah Diggi's test load hasnt arrived yet.. Hope it fairs better than the flex drives...

I am actually using my missed opportunity as an excuse to start designing my own test load in Eagle. I'm gonna build one of my own. :)

No the copper one I baught from Jeff I have an aluminum version coming from diggy.. and yes I guess I did get it instead of you. soz... I may not need it now so maybe sell it for cost... it does have an extra resistor and I want to see how it is built and works..compared to my copper one. I paid 50$ to jeff for the last copper one he had too.

My bad Kizdawg, I got part numbers mixed up. It looks like Mr. Toma says they are ok. I highlighted some of the main differences. Seems like they are very similar - unless there is something in the details I'm missing...
