I was wondering what component need heatsinking at higher currents like RHD did at 1.3A.

Also, RHD, can we get a 3D render of the 16.5mm board?

if you build them keep everything tight to center I havent done this b4 but I dont think there is that much space once built..

I was going to go the 5$ toaster oven route... better than the 2$ electric frying pan I think maybe not but from what I have seen they both work
:shhh:

They both work, but these can also be put together quite easily in small quantities with a fine tip soldering iron and some small dia. solder.

Nice boards

I didn't feel safe just using a toaster oven, so I bought a PID off ebay, and will attempt to use that. Wish me luck!

I'm not familiar with this - but I put PID into eBay and got a ton of results for something that is clearly meant to regulate temperature.

But temperature of what? How do you use this PID thing to reflow solder?

I bet my new laser would melt solder !!! I want more real world aplications for lasers. that wont hurt the general public... lol dont we all... we should just be able to short the board somehow to heat it up enough to flow it. I burnt my finger on Moh's 1.8A linear after a 45sec run with the AW's I thaught the chips were about to fall off. but we should be able to find some way to do this more like spot welding than reflowing..

Its not that simple. If they get too hot, components can get damaged, if it gets too hot or too cold too quickly, the boards can crack, and the solder joints can be bad.

I know.. I'm still waiting on paste and components. I just thaught it's funny that we build lasers but cant solder with them yet..

I haven't bought the components yet. Triple checking that I am buying the right parts. Have we agreed on the best place to buy the LM3410?
