for sale: Price Drop Mirror Finished C6 M140

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

Good God, where are my welding goggles??? That this is awesome! Well done, again, man!!

If the system allows it, +1 for sure! That's seriously sexy. If you keep building like this, you'll need an etched logo!

LL...PM me with that de-anodizing info. I'm going to strip the MXDL.

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

Bump! Thanks guys! Would love to see this go to a good home.

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

bump for those who weren't around this weekend. also i'll be adding beam shots tonight :o

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

Dude...If I had ANY need for another M-140! This thing is too sexy not to be snatched up! I don't even have the cash left for a diode, let alone this beauty.

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

I've got lots of lasers, and lots of plans. cant believe I still have this! not many Polished C6's around the forum.

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

It seems there is a glut of M-140s on the market ATM. I have a feeling that buyers are saving up for their direct-greens and the builders who might buy it are saving up for their PL520s for all those other buyers.

Dare I say we need more buying noobs? The B/S/T section is getting incestuous!

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

yeah I might just also start a presale tread for polished host??

And the beam shots are in!

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

Yay, beamshots! Dude, if you can keep those polished hosts under $40 without heatsink, just hollow, I'm so in!

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

yeah I don't really see that happening, this one took me about all day. and the host cost me $13, plus all the sand paper and polishing materials. if I had a power buffer or something and could do them in an hour with no sanding then that might be possible, but these host need sanding to get the rough spots out that you can't see because of the anodizing. if they don't get sanded and just polished they look funny in those spots.

And thanks for the REP!!

Have you ever tried a vibrating tumbler? It polishes quite well depending on the media you put in it and it does all the work....

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

I hope I didn't offend you with my offer. I didn't know it required so much work. Let me know if you come up w/ a bare host price.

never heard of it? might look into one, but personally I like to do most of the work by hard because it insures the results i'm looking for.

yeah if I come up with a price i'll let you know.

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

I have tons of experience with tumbler polishing! Many years ago. Back then, I don't remember a substrate that could polish this finely. Best we got was a smooth, but not mirrored finish. I can't speak to modern materials though.

A tumbler will never achieve a mirror finish but it can do part of the job, than its up to the user to give it the final touch or sand it for a mirror finish. A job like the one awillis did is not easy, at all. And it takes a whole lot of patience...

Re: For Sale: Mirror Finished C6 M140

Hum in that case doing it the way I've been doing to would probably be my best bet. Thanks for the info though! Do you guys think it would look better with some blue GITD powder in the focus adapter??
