first pink bulid questions

If I'm using a ps3 405 (30mw) I think. What power of red would I need to get a decent magenta beam.

I have some 5 mw reds ........ but did not know if that would be enough.

those PS3 diodes have a (~20mW) red laser built in.

you can just power both up and dial back the red until you get a nice color mix.

you can get an easy pink from that.

30mW of 660nm will balance it out, or 15mw of 638nm

The other diode I pulled off that sled has 4 pins in it. I really have not done anything with it because I have not found any specs on it.....

And do you guys have suggestions for some drivers???

I'm talking about the 5 pin blu-ray diode,

It has red, infrared, and violet all in the same diode can.

O-like sells some 15mm dichros for 40$ w/mounts. The PHR dichro is tiny, and I also this it's pass green reflect red/blue, so that wouldn't work.

Yeah, it's kind of sloppy as the two wavelengths focus differently (Anyone with a better way to phrase that, feel free to chime in.)

I have also heard of some heating issues when running them at the same time.

But if you want magenta, that is a quick and dirty method.

ah yeah the violet has a widen divergence than the red. It would still be a cool cheap build though i think. You could probably run it at an even lower power, maybe 10mW 405nm and 5mW red to avoid heat issues.
 
My second build was a r/v laser.

I wasn't willing at the time to risk running both at once. (the sleds were ~$70 at the time)
 
It's not possible to combine both red and violet lasers from one 5-pin can found in PS3.

Problem is, the laser dyes lie one on top another, and while that's only a few micrometers in difference, when passed through the lens the dots will always be seperate.

Well if you are fine with two beams from one laser, go for it. Otherwise, it's combining the lasers with dichroic mirrors.

Colours don't really determine if your gay or straight :rolleyes:
