Firedragon Mod - the stupidly simple solution for getting THIN beams.

Ah, ok. I had been looking to buy it, but I thought I saw a post that said sold.... Oh well.

Hey I tried it also... I only have an acrylic lens on hand at the moment so my results are pretty dodgey. I'll be getting a 3 element glass lens to try again. Right now the divergence is horrible :/

This is really a fix for the beam thickness issue more so than anything to do with divergence. I suspect that divergence is either unchanged, or worsened slightly.

I was able to get mine to the state where the dot size at 20 feet (WITH MOD) was the same as the dot had been at 20 feet (WITHOUT MOD). Of course, since the beam is smaller at aperture WITH MOD, this actually suggests that the divergence has gotten poorer. In practice though, I find it a lot more rewarding to have a thin beam immediately in front of you and an equal or smaller dot up to about 20 feet, even if it means poorer divergence that will eventually make the beam larger in the distance.

To be clear though, the results I'm getting make the beam thickness phenomenal, and the divergence only (at worst) a little bit poorer. At best, divergence is probably the same.

I would be interested in a group buy for the firedragon too! But i want the strongest version :eg:

greetings,,

So is the power higher with the 3-Element Glass Lens? I have no idea if I am going to do this but if the power does increase or slightly decreases I will most likely do it.

You guys don't even need to "do" the mod, to see if you like it first.

1) Unscrew the head/cap/cover,
2) With your hand, hold an aixiz lens up close to the beam's exit point. Move it forward/backwards to focus.

For some reason people think you need to disassemble the laser or something.... The cap just unscrews... then hold the lens in front...
