Finished PHR in chrome leadlight

Just solder the case pin of the PHR to the negative pin.

Well, a few days ago I did this, put the module back together, and when I tested the diode with my batteries before actually putting it inside of my pen, the diode died. Perhaps because I did not isolate the driver? I'm lost. The diode was working fine before I soldered the case pin to the negative =( Any tips?

So you soldered the case pin to the negative pin, then attach a spring to connect to the positive side of the batteries, leaving nothing directly attached to the negative input. Then made sure the aixiz module was a snug fit in the host, while also making sure that your spring isn't hitting the side of the barrel. Did you also make sure to follow proper ESD procedure when soldering and handling the diode and driver?

I soldered the case pin to the negative then soldered it to the output of the driver properly according to polarity. I soldered a wire to the positive input of the driver, but nothing to the negative. I then placed my 10440's in a battery holder, and connected the positive output of the battery to the positive input of the driver with alligator clips. I then connected the negative output of the battery to the aixiz module the same way. The diode flashed for a split second, then went super dull. So I'm confused right now.

P.S. Thanks so much for your time and help. I really appreciate it.

I would try placing it in the host and trying it. You might not get the best connection with alligator clips. You made sure your batteries are charged right?

Yeah, and the weird thing is is like it varies in brightness although it's generally dim. Maybe I just have a crap connection and it's playing with me? When I say dim, I mean REALLY dim, like u can't even see light on the wall from like 5 inches away.

And yeah both batteries are at 4.0 volts atm.

Yea, you could have a cold joint or something. If the diode pins aren't well connected, it could LED the diode. That might be what happened. Do you have some other batteries you could try just in case?

Unfortunately, I do not. I guess I can try to connect to the driver negative input with alligator clips? I tried that the first time and it worked like a charm. If that fails then I guess I need a new PHR.

Look like its well build, how's the focusing part?

Ahh your avatar scares me! It's easy to focus, however my next pen build will probably be the CNI style pen because it's a bit longer, and you have room to fit the whole aixiz module and lens inside the pen.
