Hey all! New to the forums (obvious, I know), and happy to be here. My name is Gerek, and I know almost nothing about lasers (but I know more than I did before I found this site! ). I'm 23, in the US Navy, and currently deployed. I'm happily married, though my wife isn't super excited about my new found interest in lasers. 
As to how I got here: I was recently in Hong Kong, where I saw a 2w blue laser for sale. After failing to reach an agreeable price I left the stall, and after I left HK I started looking into lasers, and realized that what I would have paid in HK was a fraction of the price I'd pay from most other vendors (though the laser would more than likely have been of questionable quality, which I now know is dangerous). In a search around the internet to find a cheap-ish laser, I stumbled upon this site. After which I was, of course, lost in the world of lasers. I've been on here every day since just searching the threads and reading, usually for several hours at a time. Decided to register a few days back, and figured I should introduce myself. So, now that that's done with, it's time for some more reading!
