Re: FEELER: CNI rare/special wavelength <5mw pointer GB, low prices!
Yes OK understood.
To the point, would like to get a handle on actual savings. GBs are not so simple or easy---is a lot of work.
Good point!
Decided to do some homework:
A 589nm, 5mW on Dragon lasers site---price is $319.99 + $10 shipping for 10-15 day delivery and $18 for Express shipping 8-15 day.
So going with the cheaper cost shipping that is $329.99 delivered directly to end users.
Same CNI 589, 5mW from CNI is $280 with 10 piece discount + shipping + duty + reshipping which is probably $15 shipping+ $9 duty + $9 Priority Mail with signature confirmation of delivery -- that is $313 each without any customs brokers fees, so could be a little higher--anyway savings of $17 compared to Dragon. Then there is the issue of being able to get 10X the output, 50mW for just $100 more from Dragon Lasers
Not sure if it makes sense all the work involved for the little bit saved per 589nm laser.
Maybe is idea good only on wavelengths that nobody else resells commonly, 510, 561 or any other wavelengths people are interested in that CNI is willing to produce if CNI will give a discount based on a combined order of 10 pieces not 10 pieces per wavelength.
Has anyone asked Dragon Lasers if they would give a 589nm, 5mW GB 10 piece price? Might be worth asking about them for a 10 piece price on the 5mW and the 50mw, 589nm + envisioning shipping to each individual particpant directly from a list provided with the order and payment for same.
Just a thought---have seen a lot of CNI GBs that fell through but never have seen a Dragon Lasers GB even attempted.
for the derailing thing that's not what I meant I just didn't want us to continue on with it, but that was ok I just didn't want it to keep going.
Also, that second part with shipping, then le hap can you ask? I've asked a million questions I'm gonna take a little break XD

Oh I'm sure they're not intending on it being over 5mW, but these are DPSS units and something as simple as warming it up will change the power output. They'd need to add additional power-control circuitry to really force it to 5mW. I'm guessing that these will just be the 5mW-rated versions and that their power can fluctuate depending on conditions. Just saying that you might get lucky with one that over-delivers.
