I recently got a quotation from a Chinese manufacturer for 10mW 589nm pointers. They have no minimum order but the price significantly decreases in a larger order. Maybe some members would be interested to get more powerful 589nm than what most sellers have (<5mW).

Laser specs:

Wavelength: 589nm, DPSS
Power: 10mW
Dimensions: 17x150mm, CR2 battery

The host is similar to most <5mW pointers on the market.

Pricing (per unit):

1pcs: $700
6pcs: $620
12pcs: $590
I'm thinking of sending the whole batch to a trusted US member to minimize shipping costs.

Not really worth it when the quote from the manufacturer (CNI)) for the modules in singular quantity is 450$

A 10mW CNI 589nm module is only $400 from CNI reseller Dragon Lasers https://www.dragonlasers.com/ph-series-laser-modules.html

Regardless of module prices:
What Country are you in?
What CNI model are you talking about rather than a vague who knows what it is for $590-$700 --a GLP pen? Continous Wave or 720Hz pulsed output like a CNI GLP pen from LaserGlow 5mW fo $669 https://www.laserglow.com/product/rigel-hv-yellow-laser-pointer which has no legal problems or risk coming to USA and other resellers sell for <$500 https://www.beamq.com/589nm-amber-laser-pointer-p-406.html?zenid=s5grvpjrho42ic9eicsj3fs670
From the dimensions you give it would have to be a a GLP pen which is ~17 X 150 and CNI does not list 10mW as an option however see: http://www.cnilaser.com/PDF/GLP-589.pdf
What model are you talking about when you say more powerful? A GLP can only handle so much heat.

What does CNI charge you for shipping that needs to added on?
How are you going to ship, what shipper/carrier, to USA at what cost? CNI will not ship any pointers to USA because of problems with USA Customs as of 2015 so... "CNI officially announced that laser pointer and portable laser series products for SLA purpose would be no longer exported to the U.S. "from Oct 1st, 2015. The incoming SLA orders from American customers will be rejected." so...
How are you going to guarantee the money.Who handles the money and how?
Who loses the money if the proposed package is seized by US Customs being to ship them into the USA or Canada is illegal and/or the money is lost for whatever reasons?

Being that you have only been a member of LPF for 6 months or so you probably do not know the history of similar group buys from CNI. Things can and do go wrong.

I bet mine was 450 due to then including fedex int priority shipping with it and upselling a bit.

Thanks for the input, Encap. Appreciate your time and effort to point things that I missed out. I just realized that a relatively new member with not many posts setting up a vague 589nm pointer GB is like a shameless con-artist wannabe.

P.s. my response in the quote

>I currently reside in Taiwan (felt like I've written that on my profile long ago but I haven't, whoops)

>The host is exactly the same as CNI GLP, however they are not CNI but Shanghai Sanctity Laser (result of their company name search in LPF yielded nothing). I inquired about both their 589nm and 593nm pointers and they responded with a formal quotation letter only for the CW 10mW 589nm model. Also, more powerful refers to their pointer having 10mW instead of CNI's 5mW. Oh and a disclaimer, I'm in no way affiliated with them.

What does CNI charge you for shipping that needs to added on?
>They didn't specify that yet.

>My original plan was to collect the funds myself with Paypal before transferring it to the company. Then have the lasers sent directly to the US (for those outside the US, I would have them sent here before sending them from the local post office).

>Thanks, I should've researched more about that. I guess I'm just hyped up since CNI no longer makes the 589nm pointers, then discovering them felt like finding a new spring after the previous one had dried.

Yes it is, but Nice of you to point it out. :)

I always pop in and check out the thread, whenever I see anything yellow to orange (575ish-620ish) - my only versions right now are HeNe lasers. Someday the price may drop :)

Thanks for the reply and sorting out the situation and the good intentions.

Am not aware of anyone on LPF ever buying anything from Shanghai Sanctity Laser Technology Co LTD.

Sanctity Lasers/ Shanghai Sanctity Laser Technology Co LTD. appears to be a reseller of a lot of items from several different suppliers trading in everybody else's everything--anything anyone wants basically.
Looks like all of their DPSS lasers are the same output range a CNI and the physical appearance of the lasers and the power supplies are exactly the same as CNI so... seems like they are traders/personal shoppers who know where to get lasers and related items.

It is questionable whether or not they actually manufacture much, if anything or are significant laser company. The high retail price they quoted you points to that as well. They only have a few people and 1 "sales engineer" guy Kevin Lee who on Linked In has only 1 contact. Looking at their web site they are OK at promoting the company as a one stop shop and marketing with a web site however. If you check their photos none of them are their photos they are from suppliers they source items from.

The pens they offer have to be CNI GLP pens or modules made by CNI. The only company making or that has ever made 589nm and 593.5nm modules for use in hand held lasers is CNI ... so all roads lead to CNI.

If you are interested to try a 589nm laser--AliExpress has a vendor listing for the CNI GLP 589nm 5mW for $279 with free shipping, buyer protection and free returns see: https://www.aliexpress.com/af/589nm...r+pen&catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20210327155930

If interested in a 5mW see if Sanctity Lasers/Shanghai Sanctity Laser Technology Co LTD will quote you for a 5mW 589nm pen at a price even close to $279 with free shipping, and delivery information. How long after payment with order will it take to ship the item--would be interesting. see if they will quote you a delivery time, shipping cost, or say they have anything in stock?

Thanks for adding the product and company information.
The combination of a product that is high priced and nobody on LPF has any experience with obtaining anything from or through that company + the risks involved makes the item an unlikely to happen GB candidate.

They need to come down a little more before I'll bite... ;)
How about an actual yellow yellow 577nm 5mW CNI pen for about $2400.00 which one member had them make? lol--see thread https://laserpointerforums.com/threads/cni-glp-577-the-worlds-first-yellow-laser-pointer.101336/

If $279 + free shipping free rather than the typical res;eers $499 + shipping is not low enough 5mW 589nm laser then it is safe to say you are probably SOL on any CNI 589nm DPSS module or pointer/pen forever.
AliExpress vendor has as low a price as ever seen for a CNI pen. A 5mW glp pen was $565 back in a 2011 GB so.
See current listing the CNI GLP 589nm 5mW for $279 with free shipping, buyer protection and free returns see: https://www.aliexpress.com/af/589nm...r+pen&catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20210327155930

No reason or need for CNI module based pointers or pens that are 589nm, to come down. Is only an item/toy for enthusiast niche market with very little demand, technically difficult and problematic to make with no possibility of mass production for a number of reasons. Pointers or pens and modules for them were and are such an insignificant pretty much meaningless $ amount of their business that CNI no longer even lists any pen or portable lasers as products--just modules if someone wants to make a portable with one. Even before all the current legal restrictions of output power in USA , Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the EU pens and pointers were minimal part of CNI's business.

PS CNI has been on FDA the "red List" because of the current FDA laws, rules and regulations on hand held SLA lasers since 2015-See CNI products subject to Detention Without Physical Examination Of Laser Pointers, Laser Gunsights, Laser Levels, Laser Light Shows, Laser Pointer Key Chains, & Similar Products That Fail To Comply With Applicable Performance Standards And Reporting Requirements see: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/cms_ia/importalert_254.html

We said that about many colors before but over time they have come way down in just a few short years, maybe the same will happen for 589nm or 577nm?

I'm very patient... ;)

They need a wide-scale market usage or they won't. I really think our best bet would have been for the QUAD color SoKnee TV's to have caught on as they would have potentially have led to RGBY Projectors. Sadly sony completely flopped how they chose to advertise these TV's by nor putting them anywhere near anything else they sold when they had in store DEMO's set up years back. They did look good, but quite honestly, there was no good content to DEMO it with at the time, and the color balance was not the best as it had to kind of "guess" what should use the yellow pixels.

Most of the weird wavelengths CNI happens to have seem to exist for the universities and research labs that need those wavelengths typically for analytical equipment where nothing else will do the job.
Thankfully OPTLasers seems to be breaking into the green/yellow transition range so we should at least have something that can be called yellow available fairly cheaply if they can refine their process. It would be quite nice to see them hit the ~580 where things should not ever appear to have a touch of green and keep the prices reasonable.

When I bought a CNI 589 nm module in 2019, I had no issues with customs but the cost was increased artificially due to heavy import taxes.
Something else to consider.

damn, so yellow lasers are still expensive after 10+ years
really hoped they came down by 200-300$ pricepoint by now
