Anything SciFi that has at least some realism to it.

The first time I see corny "defy all laws of physics" special effects, I lose interest.

Star Wars is about the only movie series that is full of impossibilities that holds my interest.

When I watched the movie "Supernova" I was just waiting to see HOW that damn movie could have a happy ending.

The film is about the earth and OUR sun going nova.

It starts out kinda like Armageddon, Scientists had discovered our sun is going nova, and the world is ending soon.

So I watch like a hawk, waiting to see what stupid ass scheme they were going to come up with to stop a star from burning out.

I won't spoil the ending, but they did not leave me wanting to play frisbee with the DVD when it ended.

Was that Supenova or Sunshine? The storyline seems very similar. It was a great movie by the way.

Supernova, it is in the $5 bin at wal mart all the time, it's a 4 "disaster film" pack.

There is a flick in there called "Fire" about a group of dirt bikers trapped in a forest fire, it's a cool movie, but they keep using 2 stroke engine sounds on the sound track while clearly showing a 4 stroke motorcycle running.

ring dings and thumpers sound nothing alike. To me it's almost as silly as a ray gun that goes bang.

Well then thats just like the movie Sunshine, which was a pretty good film. Has a few known actors in it but didn't seem to get much attention. I never even saw previews for it. A buddy recommended it from the video store.

Star Wars, Langoliers, the stand, Terminator, grumpy old men, true lies, real genius, sixth day, James Bond, John Woo films, ID4, Jurassic Park,.... etc.....

I can't believe it took this long for someone to list "Real Genius" :thanks: Photonaholic

I figured it would be at the top of most peoples list:D

It's on TV right now so I did a search to see if anyone had mentioned it. Always been one of my favorites.

I know this is an old post but I just had to say WOW. Only 1 other person besides me.:wtf:

Here's one from the vault...

"Three Days of the Condor" (circa 1975 I think?)

Will someone please watch this movie and tell me it sucks?

My all time favorite was...

"The Andromeda Strain"

The original 1971 version. NOT the 2008 version!

I basically like anything Sci-Fi related. My wife HATES Sci-Fi. :(

Star Trek
Star Wars
Stargate
Starman
ect...:)

I have to add Inception to my list. I'll have to watch it again but I'm pretty sure it had a few plot holes. No matter, it was still a fascinating movie.

Bumping this thread back up just for kicks. Heres a new list of mine in no particular order or genre classification.

The Big Lebowski
Platoon
V for Vendetta
Duel
Full Metal Jacket
Inception
Rambo
Life of Brian
1941
Strange Brew
The Blues Brothers
Flags of Our Fathers
Gettysburg
Kelly's Heroes
Black Hawk Down

...and as I think of more I may update them. I running out of Netflix movie ideas so if anyone has seen any of those oddball or less popular movies that are worth watching please let me know. Thanks

since this topic was bumped up, I will list some of the better I've seen in the past month.

Gangs of New York was amazing, some of the best costume design ever. Daniel Day Lewis was ripped off, he deserved to win that Oscar for his performance and he would have won any other year then 2003.

There Will Be Blood, another fantastic Daniel Day Lewis movie in which he did win the Oscar. The rest off the cast was fantastic, especially the young priest.

Anyone seen The Town? I have heard from a buddy that it was okay, definitely not great but one of the best this year he said.

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man
The Fifth Element
Vacation trilogy
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Star Wars trilogy
Hollywood Knights
Porky's (all)
Clint Eastwood movies
Stephen King movies
Hell Raiser trilogy
Most of the 007 movies
Nightmare on Elm street
The Matrix
Cheech and Chong movies

Animal House
Highlander trilogy
Star Gate
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Terminator trilogy
Men In Black 1 & 2
Ma & Pa Kettle movies
Independence Day
Pulp Fiction
Iron Man
The Dark Knight
Bringing Down the House

There are so many I just can't list all of them!
