Bunch of beamshots from yesterdays Ultra Long hiking trip..

It was Full moon rising and weather looked quite promising. I pondered about few different hiking locations.
I got excellent "advice" from nice fellow who I met few weeks ago on my hiking trip.
He told me about this unlisted or "secred shelter" which wasn't marked on any map. He showed me a rough location of it from his cell phone.
I was wear of that it's gonna be a very long journey, but weather and forecast looked so promising that I decided to go there.

I also checked The Photographer’s Ephemeris (TPE) and it was very promising too:

13:45 PM, Moonrise
15:27 PM, Sunset
08:51 AM, Moonset
09:25 AM, Sunrise

At some point after 2,5 hour of walk middle of wilderness, I had feeling: "What heck I'm gonna do, if I can't find the shelter?"
- I didn't have any proper information about the place, just rough location pointed from some guy's mobilephone.

After 3,5 hours of hiking I arrived to glade, which was looking exactly of that place what I was told about.
Short period of looking around I found the shelter, Whohoo!!

Now I'm gonna start a camp fire and change a dry shirt and get something to eat and drink.

After that I unpacked my gears, I realised that sky was on partially cloud cover. I Didn't get any good full moon shots unfortunately.

I was back in home around 5.30 AM,
-Huh what a night! :p

Wow, glad you found that shelter after all those hours of hiking. Were you out there alone, or, hopefully have someone else with you?

Those are fantastic shots, AD, both you and Bruce always seem to come up with some new perspective on photographing with lasers!

Nice shots as always.

Fortunately, you lucked out and found the nice shelter----the "what if I can't find the shelter" alternatives not being planned, good, or comfortable ones.
Is a good idea to think ahead and be prepared for whatever eventuality when trekking beyond the familiar boundaries.
Do you take a cell phone or other communications gear with you when going far into the wilderness , just in case?

Nope, just me and my lasers :p

If I wouldn't able to find the shelter that would only cause only some extra work (Digging snow off from fire place e.g). Plus I probably would have to do some minor tradeoffs with comfort, that's all.
I have all necessary items for surviving on my packback. Including Hexamine fuel tablets, small axe, Communication gears, Dry food, some change clothes, chemical hand warmers, First Aid kit etc..

It's quite essential to have all that gear with you, if you going to survive in these temperatures.

Great shots, Tero. It was well worth the hike. Thank you for sharing them here. + Rep. :yh:

I don't know exactly why, but these are more pleasing than the great photos you have taken and we have all come to love, Tero. Maybe it is the snow on the trees and foliage, or the color of the reflected light, but I love these. + Rep. :yh:

Damn, Those are simply stunning photos, just beautiful!
Great work, thanks for sharing, these just made my day!

:kewlpics: +rep for some of the best pics I've seen lately!
